A Course In Weight Loss: 21 Spiritual Lessons for Surrendering Your Weight Forever by Marianne Williamson

A Course In Weight Loss: 21 Spiritual Lessons for Surrendering Your Weight Forever by Marianne Williamson makes the case for their being an important connection between our own personal spirituality and our weight.

Why are there so many diets and so many people dieting? Why do so many people ultimately fail to keep the weight off? Something is missing from the equation. Maybe all the science and methods for losing weight fail to address the key underlying psychological problems we have.

Marianne Williamson is a spiritual activist. Her first book was "A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles" which has sold millions and endorsed by Oprah.

In A Course In Weight Loss, Williamson applies her spiritual understand to dieting and weight-loss. The core concept in the book is that we need to shift our inner self from fear to love. She reject some of the cliche negative thought related to dieting, like believing that you have to limit yourself and suffer. Instead, you'll learn to enjoy eating to its full extent and satisfy yourself fully without the negative aspects that restricted dieting mindset imparts.

This is a diet book, but its unlike most diet books and in fact doesn't talk much about food or what to eat or not eat at all. Williamson aims deeper and the root causes of why something is not right with your eating habits. Maybe you're eating to cover over of drown out negative emotions. If this is the case, then of course a diet will not fix the problem. You have to fix the negative emotions, then you will just naturally eat what you body needs.

The problem with being overweight is not your body, it's your mind.

A Course In Weight Loss is a spiritual book, but it is not religious and does not impose belief in God on you if that's a problem. Don't let that scare you away, the Williamson's spirituality is accessible to believers and non-believers alike.
