Chromium Picolinate helps your body burn carbohydrates and fats. It also helps regulate insulin and blood sugar levels. It may help people with Type 2 diabetes. Chromium Picolinate may also reduce your appetite and food cravings.

Chromium Picolinate is chromium combined with picolinic acid. It's a nutrient that your body needs. Some have said that many people are deficient in Chromium. This is more true for older people since your body absorbs less Chromium as you age.

You shouldn't take more than 1200 micro-grams of Chromium Picolinate per day. If you take more, it may result in kidney or liver problems. Expectant mothers should not take Chromium Picolinate, not should breast-feeding mothers.


Criticism


Some studies have linked Chromium Picolinate to DNA damage and cancer.

Some marketing touts Chromium Picolinate as a muscle-builder, but there are not studies that support this. Also, it's unlikely that many people are deficient in Chromium.

i gained a lot of weight with psych meds, and i guess this is considered a sort of "safe" diet drug for those on psychotropic meds. It is also used as a supplemental mood stablizer sometimes, and is supposed to slightly suppress appetite. It didnt work at all for me as a weight loss drug... but I stopped taking it after about a month... maybe it takes longer or maybe it will work for others. I didnt notice any downsides or bad side-effects.

if you take chromium picolinate find the one with niacin and take it. from personal experience i know that the one with niacin will give you energy without being all hyped up on caffeene or ma huang{chineese ephedra] you have to work out in order for this pill to work though-it wont work if you dont work out also,i could eat what ever i want but i choose to eat mostly vegetarian with avacados and nuts and fruits and veggies i eat chicken or fish once per day and one meal of pork and one meal of beef per week.also i drink fruit juice but no soda because if i drink soda at all then i start hating water and water is good to clean you out but soda only packs on the lbs.

I found that chromium eliminates sugar cravings after you take it for a few days. In combination with other vitamins it might cause a stress feeling; when I start getting to that stage I just stop taking it for awhile.
