The Fat Flush Plan eliminates white sugar, white flour, margarine, artificial sweeteners, vegetable shortening, and caffeine. It encourages you to eat essential oils (healthy fats) like flaxseed and GLA. Also protein is important, 8oz a day, plus 2 eggs. Vegetables are also a key component. Plus, certain thermogenic spices like ginger and cayenne. You're also encouraged to drink lots of water (8 glasses a day) along with diuretics.
The Fat Flush Plan has phases. The first phase is 2 weeks and consists of a fairly rigid, low-calorie (less than 1200 calories a day), low-carb (no starches and grains) diet. The next phase increases the calorie level to 1500. Now you can eat some healthier carbs like whole wheat products. Finally, in the third phase your caloric intake rises to a normal, moderate level to maintain your weight. You can have dairy and more carbs. Walking and strength training exercise is encouraged once you're in phase 3.
The Fat Flush Plan book has over 40 recipes. Plus, there are additional Fat Flush books with more recipes and guidance as to what foods you should eat and which you should avoid.
History
The main author, Ann Louise Gittleman, is one of the top nutritionists in the country. She's also an influential healer. Co-author, Barry Sears, is the Creator of " The Zone" diet.
