Hey Terri, I can't remember exactly how long it took but I was doing a lot of walking and exercising as well. I think from about March to August b/c I recall going after this certain guy and I was workin my tail off. LOL! I'm not exercising like before but I'm trying to stick to it. Its hard having snacks in the house for the hubby and kids, but I refuse to go into summer looking like this. I'm hoping to be out of the two hundreds within 2 weeks. I'm drinking lots of water. |

Hey KlassB and BeThinAgain, I did good today, but it was so hard!!! My friend made me a plate of fried chicken, macoroni& cheese and baked brownies!! (lol) I didnt eat it though, I let my fiance' eat it and stuck to my diet. I've been drinking alot of water, but didnt exercise to much this week, will start back next week. Im not to sure about fried foods, but I did eat one piece of fried chicken, hope it didnt mess with the diet to much... |

Hi Terri, I do not think that eating a piece of fried chicken is going to make a difference. I did not exercise last week either and I still lost weight and well this week was a right off due to being sick. I will be back at it also next week and see what happens. I have been adding crystal light to my water to help me drink all the water that is required. |

Hi Terri, I have been drinking 8 ounces of unsweetened ruby red grapefruit juice. I also found it hard eating eggs every morning so what I have be doing is making omelettes with cheese, peppers and green onions. I found a microwave omelette maker at Walmart and it works great and they also have a poached egg maker and the cost for each is around $4.00 hopefully this has helped you out.

Thanks for writting back, i've been drinking Simply Grapefruit juice, it's a brand in the super market and it also sells apple juices, orange juice and grapefruit juice. It says 100% pure squeezed grapefruit juice with no sugar or water added, so I guess it's ok...besides I feel like I lost some pounds so I guess its' working (lol) Are you gonna try some of the salad suggestions I wrote? |

Hi Terri, thank you so much for your salad suggestions they were great I will be trying them next week. The grapefruit juice your using sounds great I will look for it when I go to the store. The diet that I am following allows me to have chili with no beans as a meat so that does spruce up the meat selection. I will also change my dressings that should help a lot. I live in Canada so our selection is not the best compared to the united states. ..lol

Hello there! I started this diet today and promised myself that I will not weigh in until the first 12 days are done. The diet doesn't sound too hard, I've done Atkins before, and I LOVE grapefruit. I just had a baby 6weeks ago and gained 50lbs during pregnancy. So far I've lost 25 lbs. I'm currently 225 lbs and am 31 yrs old. My goal is to get down to at least 160 by June! Wish me luck! Good luck to all my fellow dieters! |

Hey, Well today is my 11th day on the diet and im a little worried. At first I seen a change in my face and upper body, but now I think I might have gained because I feel a little heavier and my face seems a little bit fuller. I've been following the diet exactly and writting my progress on here and I even started doing my cardio again. Im gonna get on the scale tomarrow, but im pretty nervous! Only thing I can think of is one day I made a salad and wanted to cut grilled chicken in it, but was out so I used breaded instead. That shouldn't make that big of a diffence, should it?! Oh well, im not gonna give up yet, but I do feel bad...hey KlassB, how's the salads?... |

Hi Terri, the salads are going great so far it has helped that I'm using a variety of salad dressings. I have also started making stir frys wich also help with the vegetables. I do not think that having breaded chicken is going to make a difference, I'm sure tomorrow you are going to be so surprised at how well you have done, keep up the good work. It is hard to try and make different things considering you are limited to what you can eat but all in all it is working well.

Hi All - I've heard some asking for salad suggestions. I keep mixing up my lettuce from romaine to red leaf, iceberg, arugula and anything else I can find at the store. I feel like mixing up the lettuce and dressings help. I've been a huge pasta lover forever but now when I make a dish I have it over a bed of raw spinach instead. the hot food wilts the spinach a bit and it's so yummy and filling. I had shrimp & broccoli scampi the other night but over spinach. Adding spinach to salads helps too because it adds a different texture. I also love the tuna packets you can get in the grocery store. They have lemon pepper and a roasted red pepper one. Both are great. |

I'm down five pounds this week. I'm also taking inositol, choline & methonine. Its the ingredients that is in the lipo shots. It really speeds up the weightloss and you'll lose inches. My name is Mariah and I am 21 stone (294lbs)5''8 and I am very excited to get on and do this diet. I used to be rather normal sized when I was younger, but going to uni messed that all up- the uni student diet is UNHEALTHY!
Lol... I really want to lose around 150 lbs by July/August this year. I know that sems rather outlandish but I've seen from other experience that I am able to lose weight quick quickly when I am motivated to do so.
I just want this summer, that I feel attractive and happy again, after so many years.
I will be starting this diet on Monday and I will let you all know of my progress or otherwise.
All your positive results spur on me so much!
Last year, I tried the cabbage soup diet-I love 8lbs in a week, but it was HARD going. The Grape fruit diet seems more varied and exciting ;)

for those who have lost or known someone who has lost a lot of weight on the diet, did they gain it back? i keep reading that once you stop dieting you will gain all the weight back which kind of makes sense if you lose only say....6 lbs but i would think that if you lose like 30 lbs, although you would gain some weight back, you would still have weight loss right? |

Well, I have been doing the diet for the past month and have seen no weight loss. I was working out with the diet, doing P90X and have seen my body composition change but no weight has been dropped. I have done the grapefruit juice diet in the past and have seen dramatic loss' so i know it does work, but i think i got carried away with the "eat any meat, any way u want" and i've been eating a lot of fried chicken and mcd friend nuggets for dinner. So, alas i'm revamping and starting fresh today, being day 1. I'm so glad to know you all are there so I can look forward to posting. Oh, I am 5'6, 200lbs.
Have any of you found success with working out and doing the diet? Since the basis of this diet is a chemical breakdown, i was wondering if working out too hard would work against the diet? (I don't know if that makes sense). Thoughts on this? |

Hey Anonymous, who posted on today...I think we're in the same boat with the working out and doing this diet, I don't know, something is telling me that you shouldn't work out daily while doing this. I'm going to do about 10 minutes of leg lifts, squats, light weights for my arms, push ups and things like that but nothing where i exert too much sweat. Also, what are u eating for meat? Are u cheating at all? In college when i did this diet, i was really a bread-a-holic and i would cheat and eat crackers or a cookie and it did not work until i stopped cheating!! You normally have to at least get past the first 10 or 12 days before u can cheat and not get off track but if u do backslide, u must get right back on!!! Don't give up...try to stop working out for the next 10-12 days and see if that works. Also put a nickname so we can keep up w/eachother... |

Anonymous...you are allowed to eat fried foods but not the breading. Think, its basically breading which is full of carbs! If food is fried in the oil that's fine but without the batter. Honestly fast food is probably the worth thing to eat on this diet... its not real meat and it has so many additives and preservatives, it makes sense you haven't lost weight. Eat grilled chk instead and not foods with any breading. This diet does work, my mother lost over 50lbs and I started last mon. On sat I weighed myself and I had lost 6lbs. |

I gained muscle mass and lost inches. I only did a 30 minute cardio workout 3 times a week. This diet really does work. I went back on it today. This diet was suggested by my gyn, so I'm thinking it cannot be that bad for me. I started it so that I have every other weekend off, and that works with our social plans! |

Definitely the Ruby grapefruit! Better tasting. I cannot understand why you cannot have celery? I have seen different printings of this diet and I think celery was okay on a couple of them, but it seems odd. |

I am on my 4th day it is not that bad... first 2 days were the worst I have not lost anything it says that you won't until the 5th day. I am eating cheese and drinking crystal light you can do that on the Atkins diet so I am sure we can do the same on this one. I think the 2 diets are similar except for the grapefruit juice good luck to everyone..... I sure hope this diet works |

Very good Kathy from Kentucky. This is my third day on the diet. I think I miss the caffeine the most! It was kind of difficult during the day on Monday (day one), but so far, not so bad. Louise...google the grapefruit diet and you will find several that come up. They are all basically the same, although I did find a version or two that state you can have mayo (don't know why not, would be the same as using a salad dressing). There are a couple of versions that mention cheese along with the mayo and hot dogs, too. I may not go that route. I want to stick to it as closely as possible for the most weight loss that it can bring me. I tend to eat the grapefruit and then the salad or veges (trying to fill up that way) and then the meat, thinking that it would be the less amount of calories. Do not know if that makes any difference. |

Thanks Kathy from Kentucky. This is day four for me. Couple of problems with the diet in that I've noticed: an elimination issue and that I feel lightheaded. At least I am attributing it to the diet. Otherwise, all is well. Stick with it. We've got to lose weight with what we are eating...or not eating! :) |

Hi everyone,
I have just started this diet after every attempt at losing weight has failed. The biggest problem that I have had in the past counting calories is I am ALWAYS hungry and I am ALWAYS thinking about what I am going to have at my next meal! This is my 2nd day on this diet and so far, so good. If nothing else, I am not eating constantly and I am not hungry. I kind of took advantage of the "eat all the meat you want" and am concerned about the type of meats that I am consuming (ground beef, beef hot dogs). I know these are not the best choices and are high in calories, but they have been good for eliminating my initial hunger pains. I plan to strive for replacing some of my meat choices with fish and chicken (not fried).
I am currently weighing in at 188; I have lost 5 lbs. from just starving and counting calories but it is time for a change because I am going to sabotage myself and end up binging... so now this diet...I hope this works for me. I have tried Atkins in the past. I did not lose any actual weight but I lost inches and my blood sugar levels were perfect. Perhaps it will take me longer, but if I ultimately lose the weight over time, then it was worth it. :)
*Note to MsD - Are you taking vitamins with this diet? I also experienced light-headedness initially. I hope this goes away after awhile. |

Hi Wendy...Good luck to you! Yes, I am taking a multivitamin each day. I am also taking advantage of eating as much as I can on this diet. I figure that I will make it more healthy as time goes on, but that my first thought is not to be hungry in order to stay ON the diet! This is day 5, and doing well. Did not feel dizzy yesterday, and not today so far. Even went to dinner with my husband last night...had grapefruit juice as an appetizer, then ceasar salad (minus croutons), and grilled pork chops. Did just fine! I usually eat the 1/2 grapefruit, 2eggs and 2 bacon in the morning. Then at lunch the 1/2 grapefruit and either veges with dip (blue cheese or ranch) or a lettuce salad with dressing and meat (been on a pork kick this week). At dinner, my usual 1/2 grapefruit and either a salad with dressing or the veges (been liking zuchinni sauteed in butter) and meat. Usually I forget the bedtime snack. I'm trying to follow the diet strictly. I have no scale. I hope I am doing well! |

Hi MsD,
Thanks for the encouraging words. :) Gosh, I need it. Today is day 3, and so far so good. I have noticed that I crave sweets at times, but I have been drinking a glass of grapefruit juice and that is satisfying the cravings. I hear you on the issue of staying ON the diet! That is why I rejoice for everyday that I can do this successfully. Wow, great menu idea for eating out. I am hoping that this will not be problematic for me as my family and I are preparing to drive cross country. We are moving from New Mexico to Florida, and I am hopeful that everywhere that we stop has sufficient menu options to keep me in check with the diet. Umm, zuchinni sauteed in butter sounds wonderful, I will try that. I lost two dress sizes about 3 years ago, and I never got on a scale, I just went by the way my clothes felt. I am hopeful that at about a month into this diet, we will start seeing subtle changes. So what are you going to eat on your 2 day rest period?? |

Hi Wendy! Glad that you are doing well, but definitely STICK TO THE DIET as written. What I am saying is that don't drink that grapefruit juice between meals. It says NO eating between meals. So, have a crystal lite instead. Remember, no caffeine! What I have seen in a lot of posts above is people adding to the diet in some way. Don't do it. Just wait for your two days when you can eat what you want. I am looking forward to this weekend. My husand will make his terrific pancakes and we are going to a dinner party. While you are moving, when you stop to eat, see if you can convince your family to stop at places where you can stay on the diet. I think Denny's, Applebee's, places like that might be the best. Good luck with the move! |

Hello! I just started the diet today. I know people that used it personally and said they had success with it. My overall goal is 60 pounds, and I am at 214 now. I had a son, and am looking to lose that weight, along with a few more pounds. I don't know if I will achieve that with this or not. I don't know that I want to do this long term. I have been working out six days a week with Insanity. I am really hungry today. I don't eat too bad usually, it is the no breads that is getting to me. I ate until full both meals today and I am so hungry now! I hope this gets better because it is so hard not to snack in between. I will keep everyone updated! |

kmdubya....I, too, had a difficult time with snacking the first day. But just hold on. I have not had a problem with that any of the following days. I was hungry yesterday, but made it through, otherwise I am not hungry on this diet. I probably snacked so much that I never had an opportunity to feel hunger!!...LOL Just remember to stick to the diet as written, and that with your should do the trick for you! |
