144.9 and spider veins too. It squeezes you in the thighs and middle, which increases the pressure in your legs, making it more difficult for the blood to flow back up to the heart. The valves in your veins get stressed with the extra pressure, and over time will fail, causing varicose veins. (The same principle applies with pregnancy).
It wouldn't hurt to wear one for special occasions, but I wouldn't recommend it on a daily basis. You must be excited to be so close to reaching a huge milestone!
|Debbie M.||posted 30-Sep-2013 3:43pm|
I am excited but once again I am 200.6. Maybe tomorrow or the next day I will break through to ONEderland.
When I thought my old scale was correct I had gotten this far before several times and then gained the weight back. That was 186 or 185 on the old scale. So now that I'm at this point again I want to blaze new ground and get down to that on my new scale.
I had two days off this weekend but I am very tired today. I'm making chicken fajita meat for tonights supper. All I want to do is take a nap.
The last episode of BReaking BAd was on last night. Any fans here? It totally rocked!

Thank you. Now on to the next goal! My husband is only a few pounds lighter than me. I want to get under that and STAY there and increase the distance between our weights. When we got married I bet there was one hundred pounds between us and of course I was the lighter one. ME at 147 and him at 247. Ys just never know what life is going to hand you. But regardless, we need to take charge and steer our own lives.
|Debbie M.||posted 3-Oct-2013 9:50am|
I told hubby to start weighing every day because I'm going to pass him soon!
I had a stagnant run for a while but the scale seems to be moving now. I'm glad I waited it out. It is so rewarding to see results.
|Debbie M.||posted 4-Oct-2013 7:42am|
So today, I weighed exactly the same as my husband, right down to the ounce. 197.6 I'm nearing my second goal. ~To pass him up and leave him behind. (on the scale that is) I would never leave him. He is the best husband EVER. He told me long ago that if I ever left him, he was going with me.

What a very bad eating day. Thi9s is going to p0ut me back. I can just tell. Tomorrow back to work. Hard work.
We went to the Beach today and had a fabulous time. It was 77 and we had the whole beach to ourselves. After an hour a couple other families arrived. It was so nice. All my kids went. Even my 20 year old. We got lots of pics and unfortunately ate a lot of food.
|Karen||posted 13-Oct-2013 2:42pm|
Sorry Debbie-- parenting is both the hardest thing I have ever done, and the most rewarding. It helps me to think, "How important will this be a year from now? Five years from now?" I applaud your daughter's honesty. All kids learn from their mistakes and bad decisions, but it shows a good, strong character not to lie. Hope you get back on track-- you are doing great! Keep going!

I couldn't sleep, so I got up and made my laundry soap. I use the Duggar Family recipe. Have you tried it?
It has to gell over night. So tomorrow I will put it in containers. You would not belive how inexpensive this is to make. For one batch its less than 2 dollars. The same amount of Tide on sale would be $101.00.

Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap- Front or top load machine- best value
4 Cups - hot tap water
1 Fels-Naptha soap bar
1 Cup - Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda*
½ Cup Borax
- Grate bar of soap and add to saucepan with water. Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted.
-Fill a 5 gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Add melted soap, washing soda and Borax. Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Fill bucket to top with more hot water. Stir, cover and let sit overnight to thicken.
-Stir and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of way with water. Shake before each use. (will gel)
-Optional: You can add 10-15 drops of essential oil per 2 gallons. Add once soap has cooled. Ideas: lavender, rosemary, tea tree oil.
-Yield: Liquid soap recipe makes 10 gallons.
-Top Load Machine- 5/8 Cup per load (Approx. 180 loads)
-Front Load Machines- ¼ Cup per load (Approx. 640 loads)
*Arm & Hammer "Super Washing Soda" - in some stores or may be purchased online here (at Meijer.com). Baking Soda will not work, nor will Arm & Hammer Detergent - It must be sodium carbonate!!
•Works well in traditional or HE machines.
•Low sudsing. It is the ingredients in the soap, not the suds, that does the cleaning.
•Clumping and geling of the detergent is normal. Stir before putting in dispenser, and shake before each use.
•For stains, consider using an inexpensive spray-on stain remover before washing. (Zout, Spray 'n' Wash, Oxyclean)
The Internet has lots of tutorials on making this soap and lots of good reviews. I just made my 3rd batch since April. It has saved us so much money. The biggest cost is you fist purchace, maybe about 7 dollars but the next batch only requires another bar of Fels-Naptha. We also invested in a 5 gallon bucket that came with a lid at
Home Depo, 5 dollars. I saved a bunch of laundry soap containers in anticipation of making this soap, my neighbor gave me hers too. Now I have enough to set up all the soap at once. I find smaller ones (100 oz or smaller) work better for me as you need to leave a little space at the top and give it a shake each time you use it. The Duggars actually use Mason jars.
|Karen||posted 21-Oct-2013 7:34pm|
Thank you so much for posting this. I will copy it into a document to keep on my computer. I had no idea it would make 10 gallons at a time!

Hi-everyone. Karen, you mentioned you live in the Northeast- anywhere near Massachusetts? I'll bet you live in Penn. or New Jersey, or southern Connecticut. Hartford and north would probably say New England. I was just interested..maybe we're neighbors!!
I quit taking the time to record calories, and gained about 4 pounds. I'll have to go back to recording calories, or else I'll change sizes soon. Unhappy face goes here :(
Hi debbie - I'm taking guitar lessons!! Also, babysitting (playing with) my 18 month old grandson, and my almost 2 year old grandson. Also, bowling and line dancing, and trying to find time for a yoga class.
Karen, I try to drink a lot of water- but I don't know if I drink more than 32 oz. plus about 8 oz. low fat milk. Well
Nice to be back on here-we are in Rhode Island for the weekend.

Yea, it makes a lot of laundry detergent. It is so good for us, as we go though a lot of it with 6 people. It has saved us a lot of money. You could divide the recipe in half if it is too much for you to store.
So good to see you Kathy. I was wondering what you were up to. You sound really good. I hope the 4 pounds doesn't get you down. Do what works for you! :o)
I need to get serious again as I have gained too. 202 now, boooo. In fact, I binged today something aweful. I hated myself as I was doing it but I still did it. Shame shame. Why do I do that? I'm sitting here with a big bloated stomach. I hope tomorrow I can regain control.
We got our garage cleaned out so 2 cars can fit when the snow starts to fly. We just need to find space either in the camper or the shed for our bikes. Cleaning out the shed will come another day.
And I have 5 boxes of junk to go through. Get rid of the stuff or put it away. They are sitting right in the middle of my family room. My daughter and I went thought one today. Success! 5 to go!

I have been so busy lately I haven't been online. I missed connecting with you. I haven't weighed myself in over a week. I will tomorrow and see where I am. My eating has been less healthy, but I've been running around so much maybe I burned more calories? I can hope!
Kathy I'm a lifelong "Jersey Girl". And Debbie it will be so great once all the clutter is donated or organized. I also understand how you feel about the eating. It never really satisfies, and in fact leaves us feeling worse, and yet food helps to ease pain or stress or whatever. Please don't beat yourself up. Just start fresh tomorrow.
Blessings to all!

I actually closed my eyes when I first got on the scale this morning. When I don't weigh every day, the weight seems to magically creep up all on its own. Not to mention the Halloween candy I ate last night could not have helped. I was shocked to see 143.6. I even checked it twice. I also think you must drink water lots of water. Sounds pretty simple. The Drs. has the right way of doing it but I guess it depends on how bad you want to loss those unhealthy pounds. I am trying since my health depends on it and everyone depends on me. I think it all started when I said I DO. Darn Midwest storm. We lost power and now we have water coming into the electrical panel in the basement !! :o(
We had an electrician come out on this SUNDAY to look at said problem. 250 dollars right off the bat. There was water in every circuit breaker. Seems the electric company replaced our meter and did not plug up the hole left when the work was done. This leak has been goin gon for some time without our notice. Now it is going to cost hundreds of dollars to repair or replace. They will come back tomorrow to figure things out. At least we were able to hook up our generator to our fridge now. There goes the modest Christmas I was going to try to scrap together. What are the chances the electric company will man up and pay for the damages?

I eat salads, chicken ,lean lunch meat, fruit fresh and canned and I feel better. [ guess it takes awhile to get the hang of it. Also, I have been reading old post to get some recipes for quick meals. I wander where all the regulars on this site went I guess they found something better but like me they will be back. I wish all you diet hounds a wonderful Thanksgiving. Lets take inventory of how truely blessed we really are. Its easy to always focus on what we don't have or on what challenge we have at the moment but we need to stop and realize how spoiled we really are. Its easy to cures our worn out shoes until we meet a man with no feet. Its easy to complain that we cannot afford a manicure until we see someone with no hands. It might be cold this winter but we have a roof over our heads. Most of us have probably not ever missed a meal.

So much depends on our perspective. This morning I realized that I arbitrarily set 143 as my goal weight, but 99% of the time I weigh myself I see 144. Every morning I think "ok not bad...within 1 lb is fine." This morning I was thanking God for many things,-- one of which was keeping me so close to my goal weight. In a blinding moment of pure grace the thought occurred to me, "What if you just made 144 your goal weight? Wouldn't it feel better to see your goal weight 99% of the time? It is just a matter of changing your perspective." Wow. I'm thinking this could be applied in many areas of my life...

You are at a great weight compared to most of the people in USA. So staying there is the problem and it can be done but I guess you have to think a calorie is a calorie and you need to be active if you overeat. Common sense I guess but who thinking about calories when your eating something you love. That's are downfall the love of sweets ,to bad we tasted the foods that made us gain the weight. Well to late ,we need to reprogram the old taster and think salads are the new dessert. Ha, Ha. What a thing to say the day before THANKSGIVING DAY. Well,I am not going to carry this weight anymore. If you choose to eat something that makes you overweight then I guess that is your fault and you will never get as healthy as you should be. So stop and think Do I choose to eat that candy bar or whatever is the trigger food that is causing your weight gain. So decided to choose not to and quit that night eating. Stop 4 hours before bed that what my dr. told me, so I will try harder to get that right. Just some advice from me. It is not easy but anything worth having is worth working for. Debbie start choosing not to eat what is causing your set back. You will always have problems and you don,t want this one anymore. So be strong and do what you need to do eat with moderation, and choose to not have that cookie. Remove yourself from the temptation, find something you like to do ,get busy enjoying other things, food is just a form of fuel to the body and we only need enough to run smoothly. It is not like gas for are car wanting it to be on full all the time. Just trying to keep us on track. Also ,we only need about 1300 to 1500 calories a day to lose the weight depending on how active we are so choose wisely. GOOD HEALTH IS WHAT WE WANT, an to be NIFTY at FIFTY for the younger ones. I will stop preaching and end with a big hug to all the girls in this club of staying strong for each other. ANNIE

Debbie did you lose your way to this site we all enjoy hearing from you and want to make sure you are on the right track. I am trying this year to at least watch the scale go down instead of up and down. I wish I could say 144.0 Karen but 1 pound at a time and I will get there. I am modifying the no flour no sugar diet and I believe it will work, slow but steady. 2014 is the year to do anything you want to accomplish but it all takes time and effort. Remember not to feed head hunger wait until your belly tells you ..its time to eat. Good luck to all. ANNIE

Hi Annie and everyone,
I want to think you for your encouragement! Its nice to come back here and see I"m still remembered. I think everyday about weight and food. I'm obsessed really.
Strangely I seem to get no where. I don't mean to be a downer but I just have not been able to get into the grove. I think I need to pray about it again.
I hope you arew healing up nicely Karen.
Thanks Kathy, I hope you had a nice Christmas too.
I'm reading JAne Pauley's new book Reimagining You Life. I need to do that with a thin Deb in it.

Hi Debbie, glad to hear you are OK. Sorry that you are struggling. I will pray for you.
My foot is healing well. Stitches are out and in another 2 weeks I can lose the surgical shoe!
Best wishes to all, Karen

Eating out a lot the next week-uh oh. I'll try to stay with fish, salads, or vegetarian meals. Salads don't sound great in the winter. How's everyone doing? Karen, what happened to your foot? Debbie-Hi! Any good meals lately?

146.0 hi Kathy, I had surgery on my foot to fix a deformed bone. It needed to be cut and straightened out with a couple of screws put in. In one more week I should be able to get back to walking around in sneakers. I can't wait to get back to walking normally again!

Hi All ,hope everyone is staying warm. I haven't been doing so good on my eating plan. I think I have try so many times it has become impossible for me to lose this weight. You tend to get down and eat anything easy and handy because of life and what your dealt. But I will never give up because my health depends on it. So don't give up either. God Bless you all. Annie

Annie, don't give up. One day at a time...

I am trying to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day, I don't like it that much I believe it is the key to lose unwanted pounds. Doing it for a 21 day challenge and a few others. If anyone wants to try it with me or any other food problem you eat to much of you name it and away we go. Hopefully lighter. It takes 21 days to conquer a problem food. That what I was told so here goes. Stay warm, ANNIE

Ya know, I think I'll do the water thing. Is that 10 actual cups? I do like water so I don't think that will be a problem. I have been drinking glasses of chocolate milk. The kind the kids stir up with Hersheys Syrup. I know, its soooo bad. I'm so bloated. I feel like my gut will explode. I really need to get my carbs under control. Everything needs to be gotten under control. I've been around 210. Shamful. I really don't feel very good in my body at all.
Tomorrow I'm going to do two things. Switch to Almond milk for things like cereal and coffee and drink 10 cups of water. No more glasses of milk for me.
Glad to hear about your foot Karen.
I'm also going to do one work out, even though small, on my xfinity. I just discovered they have all sorts of work outs for free. I might do the 1 mile walk.

So here we are the next morning. I grab my coffee and go for the cream!! So I stand there really wanting the creamer. You know, the Vanilla Naturalbliss kind (that my daughter bought yesterday) with a bit of sugar in it. But I feel bloated and large so I put it back and I'm drinking my coffee black. Boy is it strong. I think I'll put some almond milk in it. Success!
Good day y'all.

Debbie don't give up you have to keep making better choices. I know you can do it if you really want to. I have a lot of family who tempt me but lately I have been saying no to there junk food. If I lose a few pounds a month I will be happy. Baby steps and you will succeed. The summer will be here sooner than you think. So today is all we have don't worry about yesterday or tomorrow get threw one day at a time. Best wishes to all from ANNIE
