You can eat brown rice, lean meats, low-fat dairy products, fruits and vegetables. But, you have to stop eating foods like bagels, pasta, bread, cereal, white rice, cookies, sweets, and cakes.

Many excellent recipes are included in the book with have no flour and sugar, yet taste delicious.

The approach is to keep things simple by just eliminating flour and sugar, the two primary food ingredients that are causing the obesity problem in America. Our culture has become addicted to sweets. This book helps you break the addiction and get on track for eating healthier while losing that extra weight.

History

Dr. Gott is a medical columnist published in over 350 newspaper daily. He is a practicing physician with a general practice in Connecticut. He's also the director of medicine at Hotchkiss School (a prep-school).

Criticism

Giving up bread and sweets may simply be too hard for some people. Sugar is in a great majority of products sold today. While the diet sounds simple, implementing it and sticking to it is quiet a challenge.

I had never heard of Tiller but I went to read the article:

The slaying of the 67-year-old doctor is "an unspeakable tragedy," his widow, four children and 10 grandchildren said in statement. "This is particularly heart-wrenching because George was shot down in his house of worship, a place of peace."

I am totally opposed to this kind of violence. How do people justify either act, that of being a late term abortionist or being a killer. It seems strange to me that Tiller was an active church goer,,,,,how did he justify his occupation and his faith?

Bronwyn, That is the first thing I thought too. How could anyone sit next to him in church and praise our Lord? His profession would be all I could think about.

I got up at 3:00 AM. I was up about 40 minutes or so and went back to bed. I slept good before and after. It's not unusual for me to wake up at night. I still go about 8 hours. How much did you sleep last night?

Does anyone NOT know about partial birth abortion? I didn't up until a few years ago. My husband explained it to me. Then I sat there and cried.
I had no idea such a thing even exsisted. I wish I still didn't.

Good morning all. I had a lot of catch up reading to do. We had a good weekend and went for our usual bike ride. The humidity was not bad so I didn't sweat buckets. I do think my maca root is helping with my hormone changes. I seem to have a little more energy. I have not had mayonnaise in five days!!! This is major for me. We had hamburgers last night and I ate mine on a bed of baby spinach with vegetable cheese melted on top, mustard and catsup. It was soooo good. I made a trail mix out of edamame, raisens, green pea snack and roasted soy nuts. I munch on it when I want a snack and a 100 calorie bag of popcorn at night with olive oil spray. I am eating chopped up apple in yogurt with 2 tlbs of SF peanut butter and some truvia for breakfast. This seems to get things going if you know what I mean. My daughters birthday is the 8th. She will be 23. I am headed out to find a birthday card. Have a great day all!

Hi Angie, good to hear from you.

190 this morning. Very excited to be staying as low as this. I'm on the brink of leaving the 190's forever.

It's raining here today. Rain for today and tomorrow too. I am going to clean the house for the next two days so we can have it nice and tidy for the vacation. Funny thing is, it will stay clean. That will be unusual.

Connie, Tell me how your legs are progressing.

Good morning all!
I didn't mention that I have a week off from work that started Friday at 1:00, what a great feeling to sleep in and do whatever I want to do for a few days.

I had a weird and somewhat disturbing dream last night. I have a friend who is very overweight, (she married a skinny guy and now he is very overweight as well). We only live a little more than an hour apart, but we don't see each other as much as we should. Anyway, I had this dream that we got together and she was much smaller than I am! She talked about how easy it was to lose her weight and then she pulled up her shirt to show me this tight stomach. Okay, this is definitely a sign that I need to step things up a notch with getting rid of what I want to shed!

We never had alcohol in the house when I was growing up. We lived on a farm and would occasionally hire extra help for baling hay, and sometimes my dad would buy some beer for the help. I treated this beer in the fridge like it was poison, I didn't even want to touch the cans. It was kind of like the rifle dad had in the closet...you just DIDN'T touch it. Then I grew up! I spent a few years where I would wake up on a Sunday and look outside to see if my car was there (I was driving). While it was obviously wrong and not open for excuses, I did live only four blocks from the bar. But I am better now! I'll have a drink with my meal if we go out, but I rarely drink at home. I am glad it never got its claws into me fully.

Diane, You look nice and trim in your pic. But you said it was a couple years old. How much do you want to loose? I'm sorry I can't remember.

Yes, the driving thing is scary. Its part of the alcohol experience. It makes you say and do things you normally wouldn't do. Only to regret them later.

I'm hungry for breakfast. I cleaned the kitchen and moped the floor so I am waiting for it to dry. There is something about the combination of an egg, i piece eziek toast and 4 oz OJ that is so satifying. It stablilizes my blood sugar, gives me energy and seems to keep me from getting hungry too soon. It just plain sets me up for a successful day. I think its the combination of a healthful carb with a protein that is the key.

I think we will make shish-ka-shrinp tonight on the grill. We have an awesome garlic maranade left over that I'll use.

I have to tell you what I did yesterday when Steve and I were setting up the pool. He wanted a beer but I didn't. I went in and pored him one in a frosty mug. For myself I filled up a clean beer bottle with water. It was some how satifying to drink water out of it. Strange I know but it worked. I wasn't trying to fool him, he knew. It just seemed like fun to have a special vessel for my drink.

The alcohol conversation continues! Alcohol had touched everyone in one way or another. And never for the better.

My legs are very ugly right now. Most of my spots have turned into slightly raised blisters. They ache a bit, it feels like tender bruises. But I already have one week behind me and soon I will be able to assess the success of the procedure. In the meantime, pants for me.

I slept terribly last night. I was so tired, but I couldn't fall asleep. It occurred to me I had drank 5 or 6 large glasses of iced tea when I came in from working in the yard. I think that was the problem. Then up and down, then a little night eating. Dang! I will not be weighing today.

I am so happy for you Debbie! You are literally just days away from the 170's. Woohoo!

Bronwyn, is today the day you start calculating? Soon you will be even more of a food expert.

Angie, good job giving up the mayo. I know I need to give up cheese. I have cut back, maybe that can be good enough. How did you like the veggie cheese? My sister bought soy cheese but I could never find it. And you know, I am a total cheese snob.

Ok, here's the chicken parmesan recipe. Please read all the way through before you plan on making it. It's not so fast anymore!

Rice pasta or speg squash
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast (I used 2 and it feed 4)
1 large egg lightly beaten
3/4 c milk
1/2 c Italian seasoned breadcrumbs (I used 3 ezek slices of bread)
2 Tblsp butter
1 Tblsp parmesan cheese (I used a bit more)
1 3/4 c speg sauce
1 c shredded mozzerella (I used a bit more)
1/4 c chopped fresh parsley or 1/8 tsp dried

Early in the day, set out your bread on a piece of paper towel to let it thaw and dry. If you wish, you can go ahead and make your homemade speg sauce early as well. It will save time for later. You can get a recipe off the internet. I used a sauce with diced tomatoes. Many people like a smoother sauce so just make one you and your family will like.

After your bread has thawed and dried(maybe 3 hours later), crumble it useing you fingers as best you can. Spread the crumbs out on your paper towels and let them dry some more(maybe 2 hours more). Then put crumbs in food processor until as fine as you can get them. Put them in a bowl. Add 3 to 4 Tblsp Italian seasonings and some salt. Mix well.

1 hour before dinner. Fork squash in put in microwave. Cook in 2 min intervals until soft enough to cut. Cut squash lengthwise. Remove seeds and pulp. Place cut side down on a foil covered baking sheet and bake at 350 for 40 min.

If using rice pasta, 30 min before dinner, put water for pasta on to boil. Flatten chicken breasts between saran wrap to 1/4 in thickness. (I used two breast and cut each in half after flattening, this gave me 4 servings. You will need a frying pan for this)

Combine egg and milk in a bowl. Mix well. Put breadcrumb mixture in a flat dish. Melt butter in a large frying pan over med high heat. Dip chicken in egg mixture and then dredge in breadcrumbs. Cook chicken in butter over med high heat until browned, turning once very carefully. Make sure you have enough butter in your pan. If it start to look at all dry, add some more before you turn them. After you turn them spoon speg sauce over the top of chicken. Reduce heat to low med and cover for 10 min. Sprinkle with cheeses and parsely, cover and simmer on low for 5 more min.

Serve over rice pasta or squash.

Good stuff. The only difference I noticed from the original version is the taste of the Italian seasoned breadcrumbs. The store bought ones taste better. So you might want to look on line for a breadcrumb recipe that is better than the one I used. This is a great dish, impressive in it's presentation, great for company. And the best part...it's good for you! Daughter asked if we could make it again this week! Enjoy.

Great day all.

That caffeine will get you at night.
I hope your legs heal quickly. It sounds like the worst is over with. I hope you don't have to have more treatments but I hear more than one is the norm. I'm sure it will be worth it.
Connie, You typed 170's, did you mean 180's?
I sure am flirting with the 180's.

Having GM file bankruptsy makes me want to bail out of my debt too. It's all very confusing and my attitude comes from a place of anger.
Connie
posted 1-Jun-2009 12:33pm

Yep, I meant 180's.

I am saddened by GM's fate. My step father retired from GM and they have been losing benefits monthly as it is. And now they say the stockholders are going to be left with nothing! I don't know how much stock they still have in GM, hopefully not too much. But for all I know they could have a lot, at one time I know they did.

Getting out of debt is the way to go. It is critical in surviving the future. Our parents would have told us that in a heartbeat. I am really trying to hit our remaining debt, which sadly, is still high. But we can do it. It will take a couple of years of huge monthly checks, but we got ourselves into this and we are going to have to get ourselves out. The important thing is staying on top of our spending. I have never been great at that. I don't shop a lot of places, but I don't do the best job of penny pinching. When I go to WM I get what I want. And it is a bit more costly to eat healthy, although there are so many junk items I no longer buy, that may be a wash. I have had to buy new clothes. I have only bought on sale items, I have not once paid full price for anything, except shoes. I have to pay more for shoes because I have a hard to find size. But, I only have the basics. I think this week I'll prepare a new budget. Nothing opens your eyes to what your doing financially like putting it down on paper.

I am going to stay in to day. A little bit of this and a little bit of that is all I hope to accomplish. Tonight, corn bread pizza.

Yes, Connie, its to the grind stone for us too. I understand some have no choice btu to file. We have always been able to pay our bills even if we have run up some debt. It will eventually get paid. I hate that we have it but we have tried to protect our credit in spite of it.

Wall-Mart does not carry our Eziek bread. I can still find it at Martin's but I was hoping to find it at our wal-Mart as others have I believe.

Connie did you add italian spices to your Eziek bread crumbs?

Bronwyn whatcha doin?

Connie I do like the veggie cheese. I get it at publix. It is with the organic vegetables in the produce section. I get the cheddar and the mozzerella slices. I eat it on hamburgers and with deli meat. I cooked hamburgers the other night and mixed an egg and some veggie hummus in the meat with onions. It was so good topped with the veggie cheese. The recipe you posted sounds great. I will have to give it a try.

Diane I only drank a margarita when I went to a Mexican restaurant until I saw how many calories they had. Over 500. I could not believe it. I haven't drank anything other than water, tea, coffee and occasional grape juice in a couple of years. My husband never has liked alcohol and I have an alcoholic brother which is a whole other story. My Mother called me this morning telling me that his feet are very swollen and are staying that way night and day. He is 55 and I know he has damaged his liver because he is so yellow. He is very thin and looks like he is 90. It is so sad. He was so talented and good looking. His leg muscles use to be so big he had a hard time finding jeans to fit. Now they are just meat on bones. What a waste.

Debbie M keep up the good work and you will be down to those 170's before long. Mail lady just ran so I will go see how many bills we got.

I added dried Italian spices to the breadcrumbs. The blend you buy in one jar, but I saw a recipe on line to make your own. I'll make my own next time. Our local Kroger store has started carrying some Ezek products. I'm so glad. But I still have to drive to Memphis, a ways into Memphis, to get my other NFNS products. Like the rice pasta. Luckily my daughter is taking a summer class and will be driving past it. She will be getting my stuff for me.

Debbie, I'm looking at your weight loss in 10 lbs increments. It is so exciting!

I'm menu planning again today. I'm going to look up some more recipes. I will keep you all posted. For sure I know I am fixing stuffed bell peppers one night.

Lots of activity here this morning. Angie our daughters are very close in age.....mine is 22. Actually Connie isn't your daughter 21.....they are all close in age.

I'll have to so some reading on G.M. filing for bankruptcy.....I am not sure what that all entails. Does that mean there will no longer be G.M. vehicles being made. What about people who have G.M. warranties I wonder how that works? In the past while I have kind of quit reading the news or listening to it. It was all so depressing that I just didn't want to constantly have it in my life.

I am trying to count calories today and I don't know I guess forever. Angie you basically count calories daily right.....and my gosh look at you, you look incredible. I didn't get my new notebook, so that I had one just specifically for recording calories....I am so weird that way. It seems like I haven't started if I can't do it perfect. I had an Ezekial muffin....2 tsp. of low fat cram cheese and 2 tsp. jam. I am going to ride my bike now and mid afternoon I will have a big green smoothie and then tonight I am making salmon patties and spinach salad......not sure if I will have room for any starches at all. I think in the evening I will have very few if any calories and see how that goes. My bad pattern is to start eating late in the day and eat too late at night.....bad habit.

Bronwyn I did count calories for a couple of months but I haven't in about three weeks now. You kind of get in a pattern where you know about what calories you are taking in. You all talk about these fabulous meals you cook and you all have familys to cook for. That is a big difference with me. My husband and I eat very simple. Our dinner meals usually include a hamburger and blue chips, grilled deli meat sand. with spinach, pickles and cheese, tacos, a lot of baked chicken with vegetables... I am not very creative in the kitchen with it just being the two of us and I believe that makes it a lot easier for me to keep my weight down. I am not a sweet eater. My treat is yogurt with SF peanut butter and apple. I usually eat a chicken salad or tuna salad with red grapes for lunch. I munch on my trail mix and popcorn. You see how simple I am. It would be easy for me to gain weight if I had to cook for others. If I do start gaining weight I go back to counting calories for a few days and it always works. I try to hold it down to 1500 when I am keeping track. Bronwyn I think your calorie schedule is a great idea. It gives you some variation. Along with that and your exercise I know you are going to succeed. I also think hormones and your metablism plays a major role. That's why I think this maca root is helping me to get me back where I should be. I know my metabolism had slowed down and I knew it was only going to get worse. This diet is so good because it takes away the cravings to help you eat simple. We can STICK TO IT!

Debbie, I am hoping to lose about 15 pounds. The last time I weighed I was about 135, which is close to the heaviest I have ever been. I know that isn't the worst, but I know I can do better and I just feel so uncomfortable. I am not used to it. My metabolism just plain stopped once I got into the forties and I don't like it! I feel like I need to get back down before I just continue to add to it. It was always so easy for me to lose weight, but now it seems like it has turned into a struggle.

The G.M. thing is bad news, something like 20,000 employees will lose their jobs. Bronwyn, there will still be G.M. vehicles, but some makes will disappear, Pontiac for sure with Hummer, Saab and Saturn on the chopping block. The warranties will all remain in effect. It amazes me the point we have gotten to in the U.S.. Very scary and sad.

What about that plane that disappeared on its way to France? No Americans on board I guess, but what a horrible loss of life.

Off to work out with my trusty Wii!

Hello everyone....we arrived back very late tonight....actually it's now morning....I slept in the car so I am very awake now...unfortunately, because I have to get up and go to work very early.

Debbie, I don't know what site you are talking about. Is everyone posting pictures there?

My family was never big into the alchohol thing....a few drinks here and there. I always ordered frozen strawberry daiqueries (spelling???) but I think that I liked the sweet sugar more than anything else.

Connie, good luck with those legs....it sounds like you are going through a lot...but you still keep moving along.

My husband, niece and I rented bikes to ride on the boardwalk Monday morning....this is one of my favorite things to do. Unfortunately, my legs and knees are a lot worse than I thought and I had a lot of difficulty getting my knees bending and keeping my balance. My husband made me stop and sit on the bench because he was afraid that I would hurt myself.... and I agreed with him actually. While they were gone I watched the ocean and the people and activity and then I just started to cry because my weight and this arthritis is really stealing my life. I waited for awhile and then I got up and rode the stupid bike back and forth in an open area (not a lot of people to manuever around) just to prove to myself that I could still do it....yeah, I proved something all right. I could barely walk the rest of the day. Thank God my husband still loves me because I am a real piece of work lately.

Aww Deb I'm sorry your knees are hindering your life. All you can do is alter what and how you do it and keep moving. I'm glad you are hear to share with us. Any health issure can be depressing. Keep your chin up and focus on what you can do safely.
Reading about your knee struggles reminds me of a woman I saw on TV just a day or two ago who lost 125 pounds. She was disabled in some way and could'nt move her legs very well. She exercised my doing stomach crunches and arm circles. Of course she changed her diet too but she was inspiring. Since her weight loss she no longer needs her brace!!

I had puffed red wheat cereal for breakfast today. I get it at walmart in the bagged cereal isle. I still need to get some protein. Talk to ya later.

Debster, your biking sounds miserable. And if ever anyone deserved to shed a tear over such frustration, it was you. But now, be done crying. Get motivated to change. Your so unhappy as things are...time to change it. Debbie is right, you need to keep moving. I think you need professional guidance here, how can you keep your knees healthy as you lose weight?

There have been a lot of stories lately about people who have lost lot's of weight. It seems they all worked at it for at least a year. That is where your mind needs to be. Treat every day as if your weighing in tomorrow. But keep your eye on the year goal. Cheating will only give you a moments relief, and then a lifetime of misery. It just isn't worth it. Be happy about where you are headed and know that you will get there. THIS IS NOT WISHFUL THINKING...IF YOU WILL STICK TO IT FAITHFULLY, YOU WILL DRAMATICALLY CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!! Don't throw your hands up in the air and accept a miserable existence! You don't have to live that way. Be committed, one day at a time, quietly and without fanfare. Save your energy for other things. Keep it simple. This truly is an easy way to live. You are a NFNS girl through and through and no one is going to talk you out of it!

The other website is NOFLOUR NOSUGAR NOPROBLEM. See if you can find it.

Last nights corn bread pizza was good. I hope we have enough leftovers for tonight. If not, I'll cook. But a night off would be nice!

I tried to get on the other website. I wasn't able to. I think there is some "maintenance" being done there. Anyone else able to get on?
Bronwyn
posted 2-Jun-2009 11:23am

Debster I am sorry to hear about your bike experience. I have bad knees as well and I feel so restricted because of it. It is such a "Catch 22"....we need the exercise to get our metabolisms working and yet because of the weight and pain it is hard to exercise. I have a stationary recumbant bike. The physical therapist recommended it as good exercise for my knees. I actually think it is helping to strengthen my knees a little. A few weeks ago my knees was slipping out constantly and that is so painful......I started to ride my bike again and I find my knee a little more stable. Wendy Chant of "Conquer the Fat Loss Code"....also recommends the recumbant bike if you have a significant amount of weight to lose.

Being overweight is so emotionally and physically painful. That is what we are all here for is to feel better in all ways. Some of us are mostly concerned about maintaining, some want to lose just a few lbs. and, some of us want to lose lots of weight. The bottom line is though we all want to happy and healthy. Excess weight is such a burden that keeps us back from being able to do all the things we want to do.

Connie I didn't try the other website this morning but, the last time I did I as well couldn't get on it as it was down for maintenance. I better make sure the other one is working before i try to post any more links, eh smile

I have 4 acres of grass that needs mowing. I have an old john deere tractor that is not working and is in for repairs.....the guy who came to pick it up was so rude. He said now this is one sad tractor........forget fixing this piece of junk you need a new one. Okay all that may be true but we continue to have no employment so.....really buying a tractor is not a big priority. It is really embarrassing how bad my lawn is though and I have been waiting and waiting for the tractor to get fixed......I think they have put it as super low priority.

My husband has all these prospects for various projects ,,,,,, done lots of drawings and so forth but, nothing it actually coming forth. This has been going on since November and is so stressful. I wish one of the projects would just break through and proceed.

Debbie are you enjoying your little holiday?

How are the legs today Connie, still bruised?
Connie
posted 2-Jun-2009 11:38am

Well Bronwyn, you just fix that tractor...nothing wrong with that. You are smart to keep the old one running. Can you call the shop and light a fire under them?

My husbands van has 200 thousand miles on it! He can keep a car running. It still looks great, but he will be buying a new car this year. Yuck...a car payment. But it must be done so I'm keeping an open mind about it. He will want a new one and a nice on, probably a Cadillac. He also said our lawn mower, only 3 years old, will need to be replaced this year. I'll fight him on that one. It cost over 2000, so I think we should get more years out of it.

My legs are still so tender. It looks like a bunch of blot clots, some of them raised, with bruising around them. Did I already tell you all that? Anyway, I try to sit down when they start to ache more than normal. But they are coming along.

My exercise tape yesterday. When daughter has time today, we will watch it. I have a ton of ironing, but that makes my legs hurt, so one outfit at day is all I'll manage. Good enough.

Great day ladies.

Knees and weight go hand in hand. If I remember correctly, every pound that you lose take four pounds of pressure off the knees. I agree that a recumbant bike is a great way to go. My mom had knee surgery last fall, just past her eightieth birthday, she bought a small "pedal exerciser" from Amazon and has used it daily (sometimes twice) to keep her knee flexible. The unit she bought was about $40, it is small and gets the job done, maybe that would be a way to get started? Don't buy a cheapy though, the first one she had only lasted a couple of months.

The other site was up when I checked it, three w's dot nfnsfamily.ning dot com (spelled out to keep me from being expelled!)

Typically being heavy and bad knees go together but my Mum had bad knees and she never weighed over about 105 or 110 lbs. She presently weighs about 92 lbs. So not only do I have the weight on my knees but i also have a genetic predisposition for bad knees. My Dad was heavy and he had bad knees........I am doomed with both parents knee problems.

Connie I know your legs aren't ready for exercise but I had to smile when I read that you and your daughter were going to watch your exercise tape.

Food so far.....1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup pineapple chunks and small amount of chopped walnuts and cinnamon.

Lunch a roasted red pepper hummus wrap

snack .......... green smoothie

dinner?

Angie,,,,I am going to try and keep things more simple. I think you are smart to do that. I am reading "Conquer the Fat loss Code". It is interesting and I am trying to decide whether to start into that program.....doing it NFNS as well, instead of the rotation of calories. I just haven't really made a commitment either way yet. I just need to do something I can commit to and that I can have success with. I need SUCCESS!!!!

Bronwyn, I think everyone on this board wants success for you as much as you do! Here's my question, what is the longest you have gone staying totally NFNS? I ask because I think your metabolism is fried and it is going to take your body longer to respond. On the biggest loser show everyone is exercising all the time. You are exercising, so maybe you just need to let some time go by and see what happens. I know you are frustrated but there is no reason this can't work for you.

Shoot I just went to ride my bike and the T.v. in my bike riding room isn't getting a signal and isn't working. I can't ride my bike without a distraction. Maybe I can get some music going.

Connie I don't know for sure how long the stretches are.....but I do know there have been some long stretches of NFNS. There haven't been long stretches of NFNS and calorie counting. I often don't make it through the day with the calorie counting because it is so much figuring. Wow...good for your daughter. She must be thrilled. So she has been pretty faithful to the program right? How much weight was she hoping to shed?

I started my period this morning, a few days late. I was hoping to be done for camping. Not that I am roughing it by any means, but it is still a bummer. I weighed this morning and was 177.4. Bleh. Then I went on my walk with my friend and came home and went to the restroom, if you know what I mean and then I weighed again. 175.1. I liked that one better. I wonder what I will tonight at my class? I haven't eaten breakfast yet and I am not really hungry so I think I will wait until I am.

The recumbent bike sounds like the way to go. The only other exercise that I know of that is low impact is swimming.

I need to do laundry and wait for the guy to call and let me know what is wrong with my car seat. It is automatic and the one side isn't working right. Hopefully it isn't anything expensive, if so I will just have to wait and deal with it. The oil is being changed too.

Talk to you all later.

Connie: Tell your daughter we are proud of her.

Is a recumbent bike the same as a stationery bike? Bad knees and arthritis run in my family on both of my parents sides and actually the grandparents who had the problems were not overweight at all. I have taken the family genetics and added an additional component to it....the obesity factor.....anything to make things worse.....that's been my motto it seems. I am glad to have you all for support. I am going to beat this thing, once and for all.

Bronwyn, how much weight are you trying to lose? I think that I am going to start to set tiny 10 lb goals for myself. The big picture seems so overwhelming at times.

A recumbent bike is one where you sit back and your legs are farther forward. Theres a seat back to lean back on, if I'm correct.

Debster to be in the high end of my weight for the correct BMI, I need to lose about 55-60 lbs. That is not skinny in fact it gets me back to my weight when I was full term with my first 2 babies (pregnant before I had them weight). I think I would feel really thin if I got back to that weight now though.

My daughter just called me. She just got out of her Dr. appointment for a full physical. He weighed and measured her at just over 5' 10" and 125 lbs. She is not skin and bones, she has a figure. She incredibly long thin legs.....36" inseam. She has hips and bust. She has a really small waist. In fact she feels her hips are too big and envies girls with guy hips. She actually looks lovely. The Dr. told her she needs to gain weight. That makes me mad. I hate being fat and I don't think she is too thin....she looks good and she eats quite well. I just think this kind of advise could set someone off on a bad pattern of over eating and weight gain. I also know because I have struggled with my weight for so many years that I am kind of fat phobia. She did mention to me the other day that she feels pressure from me to watch her weight. I hope I don't do that but, I don't want my kids to have weight issues. What do you guys think?

Debbie...you did it! Woohoo! Doesn't it feel like just the beginning? Just think where you will be in three months! I think once our bodies get in the losing mode, it continues that way as long as we stay NFNS and watch our calories.

Bronwyn, your daughter sounds like a perfectly healthy girl. That's the way we were in my family at that age. And you were probably that way as well. That's one of the reasons I think you can be there again...you were there before. 36 in inseam...wow! I have a niece like that, all legs. I order my pants with a 34 in inseam when I can, that way I can wear a small heel. You are teaching all the members of your family a healthy way to eat and look at food. I think I am doing that.

I am not cooking tonight. I am starting to get tired of cooking every night. Shame on me for complaining. But my legs ache after I stand on them. Right now the veins look even more pronounced. I am so ready for them to be gone. I need to be patient!

Connie I think this is where weight charts can be out of tune or out of step. Each person is different. My daughter and I both have short torso's. Long torso's are very slimming. Like I say she has a 36" inseam....so all of her length is in her legs. If she were to take his advise and work on gaining weight....she would gain it in the areas she already frets about....her hips. She is at an age where it is easier to be thin....so should she sabotage that and gain weight....what in the world for. Now my youngest sons girlfriend, on the other hand, should be given advise to gain weight. I am sure she has developed either bulimia or anorexia. She was a very thin girl before she went away to University but since being away at school she has lost about 15 - 20 lbs. She is also 5' 10" and is weighing in at about 98 maybe 100 lbs. She is skin and bones and I think obsessed about her weight. She eats here once in a while and she always goes straight to the washroom after eating. I don't know, I guess it could be a coincidence but I don't think so. Gee....too heavy...too thin....what a mess, eh!!!

It really sounds like your daughter in law has a problem. I hope her parents are keeping an eye on her. The problems she will face down the road are really terrible.

Obviously your daughter does not have any intramuscular fat. And I hope she can stay that way. I was 5'9 1/2 and weighed 125 when I graduated from HS. After many, many years of taking advantage of good genes, I learned all about intramuscular fat. My mom was very tall and thin when she was young. Then she became heavy and became diabetic. One of my sisters has started to put on some weight in the last year or so, she may now be a size 10, but it's driving her crazy. She will never let it get out of control. Her husband has only gained seven pounds since HS. They are very disciplined people. He has always avoided sugar. Who knew! Those weight charts are ambiguous. I remember seeing them where you had to determine your bone "type" as well. I was small boned, judging from my wrists. But like your daughter, my hips (and thighs) have always been healthy.

I really didn't get any "after" instructions regarding my legs. One of them is bruising on the back where they didn't puncture. It's weird. I'm not going to worry something is amiss. Too soon for that. Staying off them as much as possible helps. That is so hard to do. No one here is jumping up to do the chores.

Connie,,,,it is my 19 year olds girlfriend that I am concerned about not my daughter-in-law. Truthfully, I am sure her mother is of no help whatsoever.....in fact I think she is the problem. Her father deserted her and her Mother when she was only 4. He has not played a role in her life. Her Mother is very controlling and some what crazy.....I think her problems stem from her mother, so she won't be any help.

Connie, the Dr. had even told my daughter she should start to see a dietician for help in adding calories to her diet. Oh my goodness.....have you ever spent any time with a dietician. I do NOT agree with their (at least any I have known) ideas of what good nutrition is. Good grief if she is lucky she will stay this thin.....she will not fill out nicely.....she will get big hips and with a short torso just look big, with long skinny legs. Now she looks svelte and lovely. She has a small frame albeit hips and bust. She is super tiny and ended up with jowls. It really shows on her. I hope I don't get jowls, I doubt if I will be able to afford a mini face lift. She is 9 years older than I am.

She says, :am I smiling, I don't know if I am smiling:. It must deaden the area.

Debbie: I am on the map now. That picture is from San Diego, our favorite place to camp.

We signed some papers today to do with the house. We are officially waiting for our lender to decide whether they will accept the offer or not. We could end up having to move immediately after they approve the amount. About 2-3 weeks. When we get done camping I am starting to pack everything.

I was given the phone number of the tenants living where we will be living. I am hoping I can set up a time when I can go see this house, so I will stop having dreams about it.

I have maybe a 26" inseam. Not long at all.

According to my weight at my class I have lost 2.4 pounds since last week. I gained 1.3 last week so it really is 1.1 lost.

I am really surprised I lost that much, but I had some bathroom issues today and I didn't eat before class. My stomach wasn't upset or bothering me, just hormones I think. Does that happen to anyone else?

A lady showed up at our class, she was trying to participate in a class that won't start up until September. A divorce class. She asked if she could stay and we said sure. I gave my weight story to the class tonight and at the end of class she said she hasn't eaten flour or sugar for 7 years and that it is totally doable. She says she doesn't have problems if sugar is listed 5th or lower on the ingredients list. That was really encouraging to me. She had a picture when she was really heavy that she keeps in her wallet. We can all do this.

Connie: Does almond meal count as flour?

Good night all.
Bronwyn
posted 3-Jun-2009 2:11am

K10 I know you asked Connie this but I will answer as well...I don't see how almond meal is any different than oatmeal or cornmeal. It all is a little confusing in some ways. You can have a bowl of wheat berries but not wheat flour. In order to make wheat flour all I have to do is throw the wheat berries into my wheat grinder and voila I have flour. I don't add or subtract or do anything but grind it. Processing almonds doesn't make them as fine as flour.....the consistency is more like sand. In fact the best way to process your almonds is to do it with the other dry ingredients.....the sugar subsitute that you choose to use, salt, cocoa, baking powder.........if you do all those together it helps to process the almonds. I think you have to decide if you are going to use meals or not....and I think almond meal is as good of a choice as any other meal.

Truthfully my daughter has had a lot of comments on her legs....."holy cow those are long legs" kind of comments. She has to wear things just right or she looks misproportioned. She can't wear little short tops.....she has to wear longer tops to balance out her legs. My niece also has a 36" inseam......and for both of them that isn't to wear heels with....they need the length for flats. My niece also has a short torso.....but she hasn't figured out that wearing short little tops doesn't give her a balanced look.

Morning. I sort of fizzled out last night and tried to sleep. My daughter was on her phone talking very loudly. I pointed this out to her twice, finally she quieted down. I can't sleep when there's tv, music or conversations going on.

The first thing I noticed when I woke up is my legs didn't hurt at all! After I fed the dogs and got my coffee, they started throbbing. This must be part of the normal recovery process. Today I really am going to try and stay off them as much as I can. I think I must have hurt the back of one leg when I was working in the yard this weekend.

Bronwyn, keep an eye on Lands End Overstocks for pants for your daughter. Some of them have the option of free hemming any length you want. That's where I buy most of my pants. The quality is great and the price is reasonable. But it's finding pants long enough that you will love.

K10, trust me, the cookies are a ton better with coconut butter. I will be like the lady with 7 years NFNS. I am going to eat like this forever. Maybe when in maintenance eating items with sugar lower on the ingredient list is ok. I don't know. For me, it's just simpler to avoid it.

Today I am going to force myself to do hair and make up. I haven't done it in awhile. It will be a nice boost for me and the fam.

Yes, Hilda seems to be MIA. I hope it's because she is busy working and getting commissions. I thought of her when I was describing my spending habits. Being a single mom, she must have always had to watch every penny.

144.2 this morning. I think I am going to stay here forever! Exercise may help some. But I don't want to exercise down and only be able to stay there with daily exercise. I'm talking strenuous exercise. I'm happy where I am.

Great NFNS morning to you all.

But I honestly think you could achieve the same result by adding coconut extract. Bronwyn would be the person on this site to direct you on this. Remember, these yummy cookies are calorie packed. I think they would be a nice addition when in maintenance or for a special occasion. When we are in the trenches trying to lose a lot of weight as quickly as possible, it's probably better to stick to meals that provide a protein, veggies and a small starch. Just call me scrooge!

Good morning everyone. I feel much better this morning....still fighting this cold but last night I could not keep my eyes open. I was a little restless all night though and my legs were bothering me. Connie, I am glad that your legs feel a little better but you should stay off of them and give them time to heal...don't rush things.

It seems that most of us have had our money issues to deal with at some point in our lives. I remember having so much debt and feeling like I was never going to see the light again.... during my separation and divorce days. I was struggling to keep my car running so that I could go to work, keep the electricity from being turned off, keep my family together, and on and on and on. The bill collectors and I were on a first name basis because they called so much. Some of them were actually very friendly....I guess because I broke down and cried at times...they felt sorry for me.

Things are better now but the struggle lasted for many, many years. I am now remarried. My husband and I are not wealthy but we are surviving. We take care of my sister-in-law (She has some problems) and we have been raising our niece (my sister-in-law's daughter) since she has been 6 years old. Jean, our niece, graduated from high school this year and is going to college next year. The reason that I am sharing this information is that it appears that we all seem to be going through similar things at times. I am glad that we can share and be there to support each other through all of our trials, not just the weight. It's all related anyway. There are parallels in all aspects of our life.

I hope everyone has a great NFNS day. God Bless.

Hey Debbie that was a nice change by trying the scale out aqain. Because the scale was a little unsure don't be discouraged if you don't see the number you want to see tomorrow. Who am I kidding the number we want to see will not show up tomorrow....now wouldn't that be nice if it could.

K10.....I originally posted "Nikk's Healthy Cookies" more as a decent recipe for making things for our families.....not necessarily for us. However, it is one treat that would be better for us if we did have one than most other cookies. I really don't think they would be very good without the coconut....do you not like coconut? If you don't like coconut than you wouldn't like the coconut butter anyways as it has a strong coconut flavour. Also as I have mentioned before the coconut butter is so expensive. So are you just counting the minutes now to hear back from whether your sale has been approved? I think you are so smart to be packing and cleaning ahead of time. My friend just sold her house and has to be out the end of June. She is feeling really stressed. They are moving from 6 acres and a big house into a small house on a small lot. She is advising me to start de-junking and packing now even though we don't even have ours on the market yet.

Debster do your best to be 100% on the program so that you see some success.....that is the best way to stay motivated. I go through periods where I get discouraged and then I start to research other diets and contemplate what else to do......the result is I end of being overwhelmed, confused and over eating. My Dr. told me I should not expect to lose more than 1 to 2 lbs. a month......that is really hard to get excited about. He also said that the only way to get my metabolism working is to work out.

Connie for goodness sakes stay off of your legs.....I think you should have been given more advise and I am suprised there is no follow up. It is so frustrating when the family doesn't really pitch in.

K10 coconut butter is thicker and richer and coconutty tasting. It is like butter.....or you also could say it looks like lard with coconut chunks in it. The coconut oil may or may not taste like coconut.....mine doesn't but the butter definitely does. I have had coconut oils that tasted like coconut and my husband hates coconut so he didn't like it when I sauteed things in it and they had a coconutty taste. My coconut oil is non-hydrogenated, organic with a neutral taste....Omega Nutrition. I keep one jar in the kitchen and one in the bathroom. I use it for sauteing or making things that are cooked at higher temperatures. In the bathroom I use it for body and face lotion. the coconut butter is Artisana and tasted very coconutty,,,,it is the whole coconut flesh not just the oil. You didn't say why you wanted to leave the coconut out of the cookie recipe but I assumed it was because you don't like the flavour. If that is the case don't waste money on either the oil or the coconut butter....just use regular butter. Neither the coconut butter nor the oil require refrigeration, making them a good storage item.
Bronwyn
posted 3-Jun-2009 3:05pm

K10...this is long but just skim it. There are lots of nutritionists and so forth praising the right kind of coconut oil....I have read a lot about it. I still don't use tons of it though or any other fat.

The purpose of this site is to provide information on the health benefits of coconut products, particularly coconut oil. Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, which is known for being anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-fungal. Coconut oil is also being used by thyroid sufferers to increase body metabolism, and to lose weight. Virgin coconut oil is also used for making natural soaps and other health products, as it is one of the healthiest things one can put on their skin.

At one time coconut oil received negative press in the US because of its high level of saturated fat. However, modern research has shown that not all saturated fats are alike and that the fatty acids in coconut oil, the medium chain triglycerides, do not raise serum cholesterol or contribute to heart disease, but are in fact very healthy. Also, some negative studies done on coconut oil in the past was done on hydrogenated coconut oil, which has been altered from its original form. Other studies have clearly shown that traditional Asian cultures that eat significant amounts of coconut in their diet do not suffer from modern diseases seen in western cultures that promote a low-fat diet.

Much research on the nutritional and medicinal benefits on coconut oil has surfaced in recent years. Much of that research has been done by Dr. Mary Enig. Dr. Enig has classified coconuts as a "functional food," which provides health benefits over and beyond the basic nutrients. She has specifically identified lauric acid as a key ingredient in coconut products:

"Approximately 50% of the fatty acids in coconut fat are lauric acid. Lauric acid is a medium chain fatty acid, which has the additional beneficial function of being formed into monolaurin in the human or animal body. Monolaurin is the anti-viral, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal monoglyceride used by the human or animal to destroy lipid coated viruses such as HIV, herpes, cytomegalovirus, influenza, various pathogenic bacteria including listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and protozoa such as giardia lamblia. Some studies have also shown some antimicrobial effects of the free lauric acid."

As a "functional food," coconut oil is now being recognized by the medical community as a powerful tool against immune diseases. Several studies have been done on its effectiveness, and much research is currently being done on the incredible nutritional value of pure coconut oil. Please go to coconutoil.com to read about these studies.

My son just brought his girlfriend over for lunch because he doesn't work until 5:00.....I made the best green smoothie and some hummus wraps. Smoothie recipe: make juice with 2 bananas and 2 mangoes,,,,,,after processing that add 1 cup plain yoghurt......process and then fill the blender with spinach (6-8 cups).....blend and then add 4 cups frozen fruit salad. One quarter of this smoothis is 240 calories....and that is a big serving. In the way of fruit it may be too much for me....it would work out to 1/2 banana, 1/2 mango and 1 cup fruit salad. In the way of spinach it is 2 cups spinach. This was so good though.....really yummy!!!! I was also thinking of making a batch and putting it in a popsicle maker and making green smoothis popsicles.

I have not tried the Haagen-Dasz Sticky Toffee Pudding ice cream and I never will. So there. How's that for being snarkey!~(sticks tongue out)

Remember the movie popcorn of years past. Remember how awesomely good it was? Wasn't it popped in coconut oil? It got a terribly bad rap. I wonder if it was hydrogenated coconut oil. We pop corn in oil. Is organic non hydrogenated coconut oil the one I should be buy for popping corn?

Thanks for the eye opening artical.

I read the link you posted. I have been in the dark about oils and am happy to have read that. I think I'll shop after a while for some coconut oil to pop my corn in. Should I look for virgin as well?

I went to a place call Harmony Market that I have been to before but it was out of business. Too bad. They had natural and organic foods.

Bronwyn, thanks for all the info. I don't have time to read it right now. Later for sure.

I worked in a store that sold popcorn. We did use coconut oil, but it was orange colored. I was always afraid of it! I was on quite the popcorn kick a couple of weeks ago. And I was pouring melted butter on top. So good and so bad all at the same time. I'm still getting the kernel pieces out of my teeth.

It looks like we will be test driving the car tonight. It's used so that helps. I think my husbands van is a 1996 model. He is ready. Then I'm really going to push it and try to get him to let us eat out. I'm craving a big huge salad.

Debbie, I forgot to tell you I am so happy you have dropped down a size! Get used to it. Today I tried on a size 8 capri's. But everything else I wear is a solid size 10, the capri's are a fluke. But how fun is that!

Brownyn: Thanks for the info and the article. I do like coconut, but my kids don't. Do you think I should still use the coconut oil, just since it is better for us than regular butter? I may make it both ways and see which way they like it???? When I open the jar it has a mild coconut scent.

Here is what my coconut oil container says: Nature's Way EfaGold Coconut Oil.
Pure Extra Virgin, Organic. With 62% MCT's. On the back label it talks about the medium chain "good fats". Certified organic, non-GMO. Cold pressed, hexane-free. Zero trans and hydrogenated fat. Pure extra virgin. Unrefined, non-bleached. Delicious, creamy taste. It also talks about how it is good as a supplement, good for cooking, for skin and for hair. It was $7.99 for 16 oz. The man at the store said they also had some for $12.99, but this one tasted better to him.

I think it may have been on sale. I do remember when that group the Center for the Science in the Public Interest got rid of coconut oil in popcorn. It was good. I wonder if it was hydrogenated?

Debbie: I like that word snarky.

Connie: Size 8 awesome. I wish though that sized were universal between brands. I hate always having to try things on. Maybe I won't have to so much when I get thin?!?

We just had thunder. That is a big deal here. Come to think of it, last year in June we had a big thunderstorm. My hubby was coming home from Kansas and he didn't have any weather problems and then his plane was struck by lightning over Los Angeles. What are the chances of that?
Debbie M.
posted 3-Jun-2009 5:56pm

I hear plane fequently get struck by lightning. Its not all that uncommon. They were engineered to handle it. Quite frightening though I assume.

We get several thunder storms here each spring. I was just commenting last night to Steve that we havent had much activity like that this year. I miss it. Its exciting.

Wow, a size 8! Even a 10 would be my goal. I wore a 9 when I was thin. Thats a junior size. I'm not a junior any more. So a 10 would be awesome.

Bronwyn your comment on nothing taste as good as thin feels was so funny I had to tell my husband. Thanks for the coconut article. That is something I have not tried yet but I will go to the health food store tomorrow for some. I have to pick up some Ezekial muffins anyway. Connie be patient with your legs. It will be worth it when some time passes and it will go by fast. Debbie M. YOU GO GIRL! I love to hear our success stories. I ate good today but I feel like I ate a cow. I am drinking a cup of coffee now to help my meal digest. I ate spinach topped with sliced turkey, vegetable cheese, olive oil and dijonnaise. I ate rice crackers with this. I will probably have my 100 calorie popcorn tonight with olive oil spray and a cup of green tea.

Debster I too had a time when money was a major issue. Sometimes I think I aged 10 years during that time. It was so stressful. I am married now to a man that is hard working and we have a good living. We do not go out to eat or to movies but a couple of times a year but we are so blessed and the way this world is going you just about don't want to be in a crowd anyway. If we put our trust in God there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. He has blessed me so much. It was not in my timing but it was the best timing when I look back.

I hope everyone gets a good nights sleep and has a great NFNS day tomorrow.

K10...your coconut oil has all the great properties in it that you want.....and an awesome price. Holy cow I would like to find it at that price. I love the slight coconut scent and it would be perfect for baking such as the cookies or the 3 minute cake. It would also be nice to saute' fish in.....your family may draw the line at anything else if it has too strong of a coconut taste. Your kids may not like coconut because the texture bothers them or something but.....with the oil they probably won't even know. Absolutely and definitely and for sure smile......the big deal about the coconut oil at the theatres was that it was hydrogenated and just plain gross. I have a schneider's popcorn popper.....you do it on the stove and it has this thing you crank on the top. It comes with schneider's popcorn oil.....which is orange and ridiculously disgusting. I never used the oil....threw it out. They called for something like 5 Tablespoons of that total junk per batch. I use a tsp or 2 maybe up to 1 tablespoon of my healthy coconut oil when I make popcorn. It isn't dry like the air pop but it also doesn't have any oily taste and is low in fat.

We have lightning storms in the summer.....it hasn't been warm enough for one yet this year though. My dog hates them but I kind of like them unless your house gets hit....which we did have happen once. We had all of our computers fried and a hole in the wall.

Bronwyn: Thanks for the info. I have seen those popcorn makers you are talking about. I may make some popcorn with the coconut oil. I usually use canola and then add butter. I don't eat it very often. I need to look for the 3 minute cake recipe. Oldest just got home and loves the cookies. Youngest is my texture kid.

It is interesting to see what people have eaten tonight for dinner and I haven't even decided what to make yet. It is 3:47 here.

Debbie: What kinds of things do you make for meals when you are camping?

Connie....wow....size 8 ....I think I'll be "snarkey" and say that I am soooooo jealous. Should "snarkey" be the group's new word.

Angie....thanks for sharing....yeah tough times but they pass, now if only I could do what is necessary to get this weight thing under control. Maybe I should stop whining and "just do it" - that old Nike slogan! Sometimes when I see myself in the mirror I think, OMG I will never NEVER NNEEVVEERR GET THIS UNDER CONTROL. I have to stop doing that and do one step at a time like you all say.

K10....have you heard from the bank yet?

Bronwyn, those green smoothies sound pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing about the coconut oil.

Debbie....we are having a thunder and lightning storm right now.....I love storms (when I'm inside....especially in bed)

Where's Hilda?

Good night all!

K10, We make the old stand by hot dogs and hamburgers and turkey sandwiches with lettuce and tomato. Smores. For snackes we do cheese crackers salami and pickles. But I take a whole separate menue of substitutions for me. I eat everything they eat accept anything that has sugar or flour. When they have smores I have cheese and crackers. If they have Ice cream I have yogurt with fresh fruit. I take my ezekiel bread, and Triscuits. Veggies and fruit. Laughing cow and cottage cheese. And I usually have salads too. Its really NOT hard. I want to eat healthfully. I try not to take chips I can't have like Doritos, they are evil and my weakness. We can have fritos and potato chips guilt free. We just have to count out how many we are going to have.
All in all we try to keep meals simple. What are you planning to take camping? Do you have stand by favorites?

For dinner we had pork chops on the grill and a romain and spinach salad with carrots, avocado, tomato and just a tiny bit of cheese.

I rode my bike into the next neighborhood today. I felt it in my thighs a little.
Tonight I had white corn tortillas and salsa. Maybe a few too many. Then I snacked on a bunch of strawberries. I was very munchy tonight.

Debster, STOP do not look in the mirrow. It is not your friend. You must go by how your clothes are fitting. THAT is where the real heady power lies. I call it a false sence of skinny when our clothes feel loose. Its a real fooler but I'm going with it anyway. I get the same feeling when I look in the mirror but you must ignore it. We are our own worst critics. Don't give yourself a chance to say bad things to yourself. Be nice to you. Lie if you have to but we must get those negative voices out of our heads. Bamboozle yourself with nice complimentary words. You will start to believe it and then you will begin to live it.

JUST DO IT!~

Avoid photos and mirrors if they make you feel bad. One day you (and me) will be happier with mirrors and pictures.

Back when I used to take my kids camping I really prided myself in trying to make good healthy meals and snacks. Pretty much all of our camping was at Waterton National Park (the most beautiful place in the world.....really). Anyways I grew up about 25 minutes from the park so for me that was where I spent lots of time and have great memories. Grocery shopping in the Park was not great so I would take things that were good storage items. I had a fridge with a small freezer and a cooler. I would take cans of wild caught sockeye salmon and make salmon patties, mashed potatoes and I would have a bag of chop salad in the cooler. I would make chilies and freeze them so they would defrost in the fridge. I would go for 2 weeks at a time so it took some figuring to carry as much food as I could......otherwise I would have to travel for groceries. Anyways for us we didn't eat the usual camp stuff because my family can not eat things like hot dogs.....my youngest is sure he is allergic to them. He hasn't had one in 16 years but about the 2 times he did before that he would get so sick. I got sick on hot dogs as a child as well.....always threw up, so I just never ate them as well. As a result no one in our family ever ate hot dogs. Sorry if this makes me sound like a snob.....I am a bit of a food snob but it is all in the pursuit of healthy eating. Studies have shown that hot dogs don't decompose even after years.....hmmmm, what the heck is in them.

Debbie M. has some great ideas.....just substitute for you.

We are all "JUST DOING IT".....counted calories the whole day today..........I am within my calorie range....WooHoo!!! I need to keep up the counting and the NFNS for one straight month and decide if this is going to give me success. If not I will have to see what else needs to be tweaked.....but Debbie M.....don't get snarkey and thing you are going to get too far ahead of me (you already are but I am just saying.........). Actually I just saying anything that I can fit snarkey into. Do you think I was snarkey about the food smile

I doubt if anyone is up this late, well maybe Bronwyn...hey Bronwyn! I will be asleep soon. But we just got home from getting the car. It took FOREVER!!!!! My daughter went with us and at one point she said she was really hungry...too hungry. She had eaten a couple of eggs in the morning and it was about 7:30 at night when she told me. She said she was feeling too weak. My husband went out to his van and found some pork rinds and a single serving of cookies from an airplane trip. She ate them...with my blessing. I had removed my peanuts from my purse and forgot to put them back. By the time we left the lot it was after 10. We had taco bell for dinner. We made the best choices we could, but we were all starving and devoured every bit of it.

I began having butterflies in my stomach when we were signing the paperwork. So much money, even a used car will set you back, and the financing fees tacked on. But then I had to drive the van home. I'm not kidding...I don't know how he hung with that vehicle for so long. I was driving 10 miles per hour under the speed limit and it felt like I was speeding. No more butterflies. I think I'm lucky I still have a husband! So, 42 months of car payments. Isn't the first time and probably wont be the last.

Debster, you need to focus on what you are doing right. It is so easy to become overwhelmed and think you can't make a difference. But you absolutely can. For now, concentrate on eating NFNS at all times. Don't get bogged down by counting calories. Eat, just eat smart. Over time that will be second nature. You will eventually prefer NFNS over junk food. Give it time and it will happen. After that you can start counting calories. If you can follow this plan, in a years time you will be a different person. Don't expect too much too fast. It will happen and it will be the kind of weight loss that stays off. Your not missing anything. The stationary bike is a great idea.

Hilda...where the heck are you?

Night all.
