Happy birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Debbie....Happy Birthday to you!!!! You can be sung to a few times on your birthday!!!! Size 14....woohoo for you!!!! Do you have a pool in your yard? Vrry few people here have outdoor pools.....too short of a season. I have thought it would be nice to have a pool.....then I wouldn't have to embarrass myself by putting a swimming suit on in public.
"hicking them up".....thought that was a local expression
Yeah I guess I wasn't as clever as I thought ..... the pic I though I posted didn't show up after all. |

Yes, we have a pool that is 15 ft wide by 4 ft high. It has a ring around the top that holds the pool up. We put it up and take it down every year. Its up just over 3 months out of the year.
Thanks for the song!! It makes my day to read it.
Spelling has never been my strong point. I don't care, I'm used to it. My german mother spells the best she can in english and we get along ok.
Hicking them up would be a funny thing to say. The 16's are more comfy than the 14 but the 14's do fit! Want a pic of my pool? The other site is going to be nothing but me and my family soon. sorry |

I want one! Of course I would have to tweak the recipes, but the author has lost 30 pounds and I'm thinking good cookbooks are our friends. Bronwyn I love my new blender. You hit smoothie and it does everything else. It makes them thicker than my old one and it crushes all the ice. Connie when will you be going home? Sounds like you are having a great time. Good day to all and again Debbie celebrate your day. Go get a bottle of bubble bath and enjoy a nice, relaxing bath. |

Angie I am really interested in your new blender, what is it and in what price range is it? I just simply have no idea when and if I will ever be able to buy another vitamix. The very best deal here on a vitamix is when they are available for sale at Costco....once or twice a year and they cost $500. That is a lot of money for a machine that I truly only make smoothies in. I haven't found another blended though that works as well.
Debbie run over and visit Connie....how fun would that be |

Debbie that is a very good question....Mi of In. When I was a kid I remember being on a trip with my parents and we were in I think Grand Rapids or Lansings or something, I don't really remember. Anyways there were two States close by that had cities with the same names. My Dad called a relative that lived in the city we were close to, and said, "we are in your neck of the woods". They invited us over to visit and gave us directions. As it turned out we were in fact 100's of miles away. So that was the joke for years at family reunions. Are there two Shelbyville's as well. There is a Shelby, Montana.
I am so excited to check out the Breville....that is a good name. The exchange right now between U.S. currency and Canada isn't great.....believe me I have seen much worse though. We are always aware of that with kids going to school in the States. |

K10....It was "Linens and Things" that I was trying to think of. I don't think we have the other one because, if I remember right my son that just got married got a gift certificate for Bed, Bath and Beyond and he planned to use it sometime when they are in the States. Actually his wives' family have a lovely place on a lake in Montana and they go there often. I should maybe buy the certificate from him and have him check it out.
Debbie you mentioned your spelling.....mine isn't perfect but it is better than my pronounciation (spelling) of words. Occasionally I will be reading out loud in a class or something and will just butcher the word I am saying even though it may be a word I have no problem with normally. I hate that
My youngest is at the hospital visiting his girlfriend. She was admitted yesterday weighing 80 lbs.....she is 5' 10" or 5'11". She is a very bright girl (genius) and a perfectionist. Her father deserted her and her Mum when she was only 4 and she was left with her Mother who is wacko....really. This kid has grown up with constant pressure in her life. My son and this girl have been friends and dating for over 3 years. We occasionally have her bring her Mum out for dinner as well. When the Mum leaves I am so exhausted........she is exhausting. A year ago she weighed 115-120....very slim but looked good. She could have easily weighed 10-15 lbs. more and still looked very slim. I have been so concerned about her for the last couple of months as I have seen her melting away. When she eats here or we have gone out to eat she seems to go to the bathroom in the middle or the end or both. I finally did ask her if she was vomiting because she has been open about her weight loss and has appeared concerned with it. She denies it but I still have my suspicions. Anyways it is certainly a concern to get down to a weight like that. I would so happily shift some of my weight her way. I know there is a lot of emotional stuff tied up with the anorexia or bulimia which ever it is......things that you struggle with for your whole life. |

So sad about your son's friend. That is one thing I could never do is throw my food up. I hate throwing up and will fight it with everything I have when I am sick. I do think it is sympton of being a control addict. They actually get a high feeling from being able to control what they eat. We need to all say a prayer for her. That height and that weight is very dangerous. My daughter is 5' 10" and she weighs 145 and looks thin but healthy. Keep us updated. |

| posted 24-Jun-2009 5:37pm
Angie you are so right about the control thing....eating or not eating is the thing she has been able to have control over in her life. Her Mother is such a control freak,,,,it is a very toxic relationship. When she is with us she is such a different person than she is when her Mum is around. When her Mum is around she becomes this really little girl who says very little and her personality is crushed. She has been with us when her Mum has called on the phone....which she does continually...the girl is just quiet and saying yes, yes........while you can hear her Mum on the other side of the line just ranting and raving. I have wanted to grab the phone from her and tell her Mum to stop being so emotionally abusive. This girl goes to University in Eastern Canada so she is 2000 miles away during the school year but, distance doesn't always solve all the problem and certainly being back home has not been a good thing. I would like to talk to her Mother but I don't think it would be good for the girl if I did. My son wanted her to move to our house and we certainly have room for her but, I think that would open a whole can of worms that I may be really sorry about. Of course the girl is very torn as well....we all want to be loved, nuturtured (spelling) by our families.
Angie found the blender,.,,,thanks!!! Does it have a plunger.....the vitamix has a plunger to keep things moving. |

| posted 24-Jun-2009 6:14pm
Bronwyn it does it all itself like when I put it on the smoothie setting it blends and pulses and mixes things up all on it's on. So far I have not needed a plunger. My last blender had a plunger. I love the blades on this one. Much better than my last. Maybe you can find a store that carries it up there so you can look at it. When you put it on smoothie it has a clock that counts down a minute and I just go do something else while it's blending. I'll see if I can find a store locator. |

Bronwyn: I remember you mentioning your son's girlfriend before. I hope they can help her with her eating disorder. From what I understand anorexia is quite common in girls with very controlling parent's or perfectionists.
Someone at my Lose it for Life class last night mentioned that he had heard that people who struggle with being heavy also have issues with perfection. I think I may have to agree, in the fact that if I can't do it right I would rather not do it. I was a varsity diver in high school and my junior year my mom was diagnosed with cancer again and I decided to withdraw from the team because I didn't want to not be able to do my best because of the distractions at home. I also didn't want to be beaten by someone else on my team. I just did this same thing last week. I withdrew from teaching the Bible study Wednesday nights. There are 2 other women and we alternate, but I was feeling overwhelmed with moving and all and I felt like I just wouldn't be able to commit like I should so I quit. I tried to do so a month ago, but I was talked into staying. I am very relieved to not have the added pressure though. I do see a pattern though. With the weight thing I always seem to get to a certain point and then don't try as hard or maybe even sabotage myself. I hope to get past this point very soon.
Debbie: you are really making me want to work harder after seeing how much success you have had recently. Summer is hard for me, because I get hot and don't want to do anything. At least with packing up a house I am not just sitting on my big butt.

I held steady the next week. I have been averaging a pound a week since then although there have been a few weeks when I didn't lose anything. I have lost 18 pounds without any "pain". I love chocolate so I eat sugar free chocolate pudding and Blue Bunny fudgesicles when I need a fix. I have been telling everybody about this diet. I eat one piece of wheat bread a day (I didn't like the whole grain my health food store had-too pasty)and still lose. 186.5 this morning. My family hasn't commented on my weight loss. I mean Mom, Dad, sis, brother. I have so much to loose that losing what I did hasn't made enough of a difference yet. My folks knew me when I was small and so until I am that size again they won't be impressed. I wonder what being a size 10 would be like? My body is changing though. My skin is getting floppy around my stomach. It's soft and gushy where the fat used to be. I wonder what a wreck my abdomen will be when I'm finished losing? Maybe a girdle? What do people do with their "baby basket" when it's not full of fat? I'm sure the skin will hang somewhat. Steve was lucky to not have a problem with that. Genetics, I suppose he was lucky.
Walgreens is having a Wellness tour of some sort. They will give 4 free tests worth 140.00 sometime this week. Bone density, cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose, I think. I think they measure something in your heal for the bone density test. Has anyone had this test? I'm calling for my MRI today. I have mixed feelings about that.
Bronwyn, Sorry about your sleeplessness. Thats such a pain.

Debbie: Sorry about your family, my husbands family doesn't make comments either. His mom will say that his sister is on this extreme diet or that, but to certain kids (my hubby being one) she won't comment on their weight loss. My one sister-in-law had lost over 50 pounds and she said her mom didn't say anything about it. When hubby was up there last month I talked to her and asked if she noticed he had lost weight and she said yes, I still don't think she said anything to him. My folks on the other hand say more. My dad has always had a hard time with my weight. Just eat less, push yourself away from the table etc. I think he is scared I will die, because his mother died at a young age. It wasn't weight related though.
Unless I saw them as a child, I haven't seen any of the movies you mentioned. Oldest is in love with musicals. She just borrowed 4 from her friend last night. I have never been into them and they usually bore me somewhat. My husband can't believe how many classics I haven't seen. I tease him and say it is because I am a child of divorce and that we had cable. ;) I haven't even seen Sound of Music. I can sense your disbelief. Maybe when we move I won't get DISH for a while and we can watch musicals for a while??? :) My sleep cycles should improve. I haven't seen Lord of the Rings either. I have seen Gone with the Wind though.
I had a spoonful of peanut butter and 2 pieces of raisin toast with butter. Ezekiel of course.

Bronwyn, I could tell you were not surprised by your son's girlfriends confession. Poor soul. Can she get away from the tormenting mom? Sometimes you have to do what works. She is in a battle for her life.
Debbie, we'll hook up one day. I'm traveling with sister's so I can't stop. I wish I could.
I only watch one tv show. Tv is so stupid most of the time, you have to dumb down to swallow it. I guess the target audiences are really young and really old. And of course it's a race to see who can have the most inappropriate reality show. Thank goodness for books.
Last night we had a great salad. Spinach mix, red onion, avacado, fresh mozzerella, eggs, strawberries, blueberries and some almonds. I didn't even need dressing. So fresh. The berries here are so sweet. Colder climates produce sweeter fruits. I might have some more today. Tonight I'm cooking tenderlion lascola, otherwise known as heart attack on a plate. I promise I eat it rarely.
Great day all. |

Sooo, here's an interesting question. I got to thinking about this yesterday, could a person make a decent pizza crust from ground Tricuits? They have a rosemary and basil flavor now that might be good. I found a pie crust recipe using the plain flavor and I saw little pizzas made by putting toppings on the crackers themselves, but I am thinking there is a way a whole crust would be possible. Something to play with maybe.
Welcome Karin and Barb!
Bronwyn, sorry to hear things are not going so well for your son's lady friend. Eating disorders are hard to beat, they are not only a physical strain but mental as well.

He put Music Man on for his friends and they were really critical. Unfortunately, he began to think it wasn't too cool to watch those movies. Another series we had bought was some James Dobson, Focus on the Family series called, "McGee and Me".....all of my kids had really liked those when they were young. Friends can have such an impact though.

Speaking of Pizza I have wanted to try this recipe....wonder if the triscusts could be subbed for the flour? I have a marinated chicken strips I do that I thought may be good on this.
Okonomiyaki (Japanese Pizza) Recipe
Leeks are notoriously gritty. To clean them well I typically slice them lengthwise and then submerge them in a big bowl of water - where I rinse and swish them to loosen up any dirt. Drain and repeat if needed. Then chop/slice.
2 cups cabbage, finely shredded 1 cup leeks, well washed and chopped (see head notes) 2/3 cup whole wheat pastry flour (or apf flour) a couple pinches of fine grain sea salt 2 eggs, beaten 1+ tablespoon olive oil
Garnish: toasted slivered almonds, chives/ herbs
Combine the cabbage, leeks, flour, and salt in a bowl. Toss until everything is coated with a dusting of flour. Stir in the eggs and mix until everything is evenly coated.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a generous splash of olive oil. Scoop the cabbage mixture into the pan, and using a metal spatula press it into a round pancake shape, flat as you can get it. Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the bottom is golden. To flip the okonomiyaki, slide it out of the skillet onto a plate. Place another plate on top and flip both (together) over. If you need a bit more oil in your skillet, add it now, before sliding the okonomiyaki back into the skillet. Again press down a bit with a spatula and cook until golden on this side - another 3 -5 minutes.
When you are finished cooking, sprinkle with toasted almonds and chives, and slide it onto a cutting board to cut into wedges. Enjoy immediately.
Serves 1 - 2.

Gab, gab. gab and waste my time reading recipes......sorry. I wondered if this may be a better recipe than the one with just straight peanut butter................Gluten/Dairy Free Almond Cookies (makes about 40 1 inch cookies)
1/2 Cup Almond Butter (I used raw, creamy, unsalted from Trader Joes, but you can use any type of almond butter you find. If you open the jar and the almond butter has separated, you’ll need to mix the oil back together with the almond butter and then measure.) 2 Cups Almond Meal 6 Tbsp Honey or Agave Nectar 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract Slivered Almonds, for decoration
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. 2. Place all the ingredients in a bowl and stir to thoroughly combine. 3. You can either roll the dough by hand into 1 inch balls and lightly press down with a fork or your fingers OR you can pat into a large square and cut into smaller 1-inch squares. 4. Place the cookies on a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet. 5. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden. The cookies will crisp as they cool. 6. Allow cookies to cool and store in an airtight container.

I went to that health screening yesterday. Cholesterol was 223. A bit high but they didn't separate the good from the bad, so who knows. Blood sugar 85, B/P 111/79, bone density -o.7 (he said that was good), THey couldn't do the body fat thing where I stand on these metal foot prints because of the metal ion my head (I sound like a freak) But my BMI was 30.7. I was just on the boarder between class 1 obesity and just overweight. 140.00 worth of medical test for free. Not bad for a few minutes wait. And it was fun. My MRI got scheduled for July 7th. I need to make an eating plan according to the groceries in the house today.

I think Karin left becaue she was looking for an alternative support group who did not believe there was a God. I guess she found out that we are all believing Christians here. In spite of it and her denial of God I hope she finds what ever she is looking for in her quest for self responsibility. I for one could never get through this tumultuous world without leaning on my biggest support, my Lord Jesus.

I am sad about Farrah Fawcett dying. I wonder if she became a believer? She spoke very spiritually toward the end of her life.
Michael Jackson is a totally sad situation. The abuse that he appeared to experience as a child at the hands of his father is appalling. I think he may have been sexually abused at some point in his life as well. I do believe he was guilty of molesting at least the original accusing child. He paid a large sum of money to that family to keep quiet. What a lonely soul he was. I wonder what will happen to his children, who don't look black at all to me? I wonder if he is genetically related to them at all? I would really be surprised if he was a believer, but only the LORD knows. I also feel sorry for the fanatics that are so consumed with all this, don't they have lives? Three is in three days.
Youngest comes home from camp today. I hope she had a great time.
Talk to you all later.

Debbie that was a good thing to have all of your numbers done.....when you lose more weight it will be fun to go back and do your blood work again. I need to go on and have a consult on my bone density. I have been procrastinating because I know it isn't good and I don't want to hear the results. I know I have osteopenia but after the exam the person who did the density test suggested I should go see the Dr. so I am afraid it has progressed to Osteoporosis.
Debbie you may be right about Karin. I love the saying that there aren't any atheists in a fox hole.
Home care came today and stayed with my Mum. My daughter, daughter-in-law and grandson went out for lunch. It was really fun! Then my daughter went to work and my DIL and grandson and I went shopping. He was so good....what a cutie. For lunch I had chicken tacos on corn tortillas. ha, ha, ha,,,,,,,my niece just sent me this,,,,,this is why we shouldn't bake with flour and sugar
Alice Grayson was to bake a cake for the Church Ladies' Group in Tuscaloosa , but forgot to do it until the last minute.. She remembered the morning of the bake sale and after rummaging through cabinets, found an angel food cake mix & quickly made it while drying her hair, dressing, & helping her son pack for Scout camp. When Alice took the cake from the oven, the center had dropped flat and the cake was horribly disfigured. She thought, 'Oh dear, there is not time to bake another cake.' This cake was important to Alice because she did so want to fit in at her new church and in her new community of friends. So, being inventive, she looked around the house for something to build up the center of the cake. Alice found it in the bathroom - a roll of toilet paper. She plunked it in and covered it with icing.. Not only did the finished product look beautiful, it looked perfect.. Before she left the house to drop the cake by the church and head for work, Alice woke her daughter Amanda and gave her some money and specific instructions to be at the bake sale the moment it opened at 9:30 and to buy the cake and bring it home. When Amanda arrived at the sale, she found the attractive, perfect cake had already been sold. ?She grabbed her cell phone and called her mom. Alice was horrified - she was beside herself. Everyone would know! What would they think? She would be ostracized, talked about, and ridiculed! All night, Alice lay awake in bed thinking about people pointing fingers at her and talking about her behind her back. The next day, Alice promised herself she would try not to think about the cake and would attend the fancy luncheon/ bridal shower at the home of a fellow church member and try to have a good time. Alice did not want to attend because the hostess was a snob who more than once had looked down her nose at Alice because she was a single parent and not from the founding families of Tuscaloosa but, having already RSVP'd, she couldn't think of a believable excuse to stay home. The meal was elegant, the company was definitely upper crust old South and, to Alice 's horror, the cake in question was presented for dessert! Alice felt the blood drain from her body when she saw the cake! She started out of her chair to tell the hostess all about it, but before she could get to her feet, the Mayor's wife said, 'What a beautiful cake!' Alice still stunned, sat back in her chair when she heard the hostess (who was a prominent church member) say, 'Thank you, I baked it myself.' Alice smiled and thought to herself, 'God is good' !

Oh my gosh....can't we get a break here. Tonight my husband came home so discouraged because he had thought finally some work had opened up. It was a small project maybe 8 months or so of work. He has worked so hard on this project already.....drawings, some mock ups and samples. The people just kept changing their minds about what they really wanted and he would do more design work and samples. Then last week they wanted to add on a huge other addition besides what they originally planned to do. So all in all he has really put a huge amount of time, effort and money into this. He felt really encouraged when last week they proposed extending it into a major project. After todays meeting they have scaled it way back....to being almost nothing but with the idea that they still want to do the rest some time in the future. Oh my word he was so deflated and discouraged.
My son was working from 3 to 11 tonight (my 19 year old). He went out after work to get in his car and his car was gone.....stolen. Of course he had his wallet and I-pod under the seat. So his car, all his I.D., all his money and I-pod and some clothing are all gone. The car ran well but it was a 93" Chrysler New Yorker, so worth nothing except to us, we now are short transportation for him to work. Oh my word.......this is just overwhelming. We only have 2 vehicles now and 4 people.....on completely different schedules and going totally different directions. We live in the country so can't even use public transportation. Obviously we also can't replace it.
All of this has led to me being unable to sleep but to tell you the truth it doesn't make me want to eat at all.....too discouraged to eat......that is really discouraged. |

There are supplements for your bones. Ones you can take once a day, once a week or once a month. You can even get anual injections. You need to look into these things. You know such as Boniva? They can prevent further bone loss, and even reversal, I think, not sure.

I think the reason I didn't enjoy the movie was because of several reasons. First the sound quality was bad and I had trouble following the dialog. Second, we had kids around being noisy and interupting. A couple of the kids wanted to watch it and every once in a while there would be a part that was inappropriate. Maybe it would have been ok without all the distractions.
What did all the rest of you who saw it think? |

We are now having longer term studies that are revealing some of the scary things about those drugs for our bones we hear about on the T.V. all the time. My Dr. said they are finding that in fact bones are becoming possibly bigger but more brittle. Here is another concern:
"We are still working on trying to figure out the long term effect of bisphophonates on the jaws. Many people are currently researching this problem and answers are starting to come to the surface. We know that the intravenous form of the drugs is directly inked to necrosis of the jaw. However, the effects of the oral form are not well known at this point, but the risks appear to be significantly lower."
I have ordered a book called "Walk Tall" and I need to get going on the exercises in it.

ScienceDaily (Jan. 2, 2009) — Researchers at the University Of Southern California, School Of Dentistry release results of clinical data that links oral bisphosphonates to increased jaw necrosis. The study is among the first to acknowledge that even short-term use of common oral osteoporosis drugs may leave the jaw vulnerable to devastating necrosis, according to a new report. Osteoporosis currently affects 10 million Americans. Fosomax is the most widely prescribed oral bisphosphonate, ranking as the 21st most prescribed drug on the market since 2006, according to a 2007 report released by IMS Health.
This is the first large institutional study in the U.S. to investigate the relationship between oral bisphosphonate use and jaw bone death, said principal investigator Parish Sedghizadeh, assistant professor of clinical dentistry with the USC School of Dentistry.
After controlling for referral bias, nine of 208 healthy School of Dentistry patients who take or have taken Fosamax for any length of time were diagnosed with osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ). The study's results are in contrast to drug makers' prior assertions that bisphosphonate-related ONJ risk is only noticeable with intravenous use of the drugs, not oral usage, Sedghizadeh said. "We've been told that the risk with oral bisphosphonates is negligible, but four percent is not negligible," he said.
Most doctors who have prescribed bisphosphonates have not told patients about any oral health risks associated with the use of the drugs, despite even short-term usage posing a risk due to the drug's tenacious 10-year half life in bone tissue. Lydia Macwilliams of Los Angeles said no one told her about the risk posed by her three years of Fosamax usage until she became a patient of Sedghizadeh at the School of Dentistry. "I was surprised," she said. "My doctor who prescribed the Fosamax didn't tell me about any possible problems with my teeth."

Hey Home girls, I went to Lake Michigan today with the family. We had such a wonderful time. It's just like going to the Ocean without the salt, jelly fish and giant waves. The water was calmer than I'd seen it in a long time. The temp was in the 80's and the clouds were beautiful. Its about an hours drive so its a simple day trip. We are so lucky to live near such a tremendous body of water. It's lovely when we can stay to see the sun set on the water. Always stunning. On July 4th we will be going to a beach up the road from where we were today to see the fire works. They light them off over the water. Then we'll go back to the camp ground at the State Park Warren Dunes where we went today.
Weight's up a little today 187.5. I don't know why. It does that some times.

Hi everyone. We had a special service at church today. We do this every year the week of July 4th, it is called "Celebrate America". We have church outside in a big tent and there are skits and we sing patriotic music. It turned out well. After the service they give away hot dogs, chips and watermelon. They also have a few rides and games. Popcorn, snow cones and cotton candy too.
My hubby and I went to lunch with a couple of friends from church. They are 2 younger guys that look up to us. The oldest is 24 and the youngest is 19. We had planned on going out last weekend, but hubby had the stomach flu. We went to a place called Roscoes Chicken and Waffles. Obviously not NFNS, but the chicken and the waffles were both so good. We then went to a street festival and watched a band play. We had a good time and I may really regret what I ate today, but I am ok with that.
It is rather frustrating when talking to these two young men and learning how many of our older youth are involved in drinking or doing drugs. Mostly pot I guess, but it is annoying. I hope it isn't that way at the new church we plan on attending. My husband and I did the same things, sorry to admit, but I just pray that my girls will be smarter than we were. The advantage I think we may have over some of the other parents' is that we did these things and we may know how to detect it better.
I am going to go back to being fully NFNS starting tomorrow. I need to be and I am looking forward to some structure in that way. I am going to start walking with my friend tomorrow morning as well. If it is too warm in the morning we will walk to our DVD.
Debbie M: I can't go out and catch fireflies, we don't have them here. I have seen them in Minnesota though. They are awesome to watch. I have enjoyed watching June Bugs fly around this week though.

It's ashame you're never seen a firefly. It is an amazing site to sit outside and watch them. At times there are millions of them lighting at ramdom times. I wonder if something like that could be caught on video. I don't care for June bugs. A few years back we had way too many of them. Some agency even put traps in trees here and there for a study. I think I don't like them is because they fly around so unpredictably. We are having a very mild year for mosquitos. Haven't been seeing many yet. Ususally we have to wear bug spray when camping or if we want to be outside after dark but not this year. I don't remember a year like this. It's very nice. Horse flies are terrible. One took a chunk out of my leg one time. Dradon flies~ I agree, very cool. I can't figure it out. My weight has been climbing all week. 189 today. Whaaaaaaaaaaa :o( |

Debbie M. aren't June bugs just disgusting. I have only ever seen a few in my life....like 3 or 4 but they totally freaked me out because they are so huge, scary and unpredictable. They are kind of a big coachroach....which I have only ever seen one of two of as well and not here. Hey maybe that is the advantage to a cooler climate.,,,,the bugs don't like it.
Debbie stay off the scales for a day or two,,,,,cut down the salt and maybe drop a carb or two for a couple of days....like if you usually eat Ezekial every day cut it back to half what you would normally eat and half of the fruit you would normally eat. It also sounds like the lemonade may be a problem. The scales will move again.
Off to do all the stuff I have to do with re: to the car. I was so upset because the police made arrangements to have the car towed to an impound lot.....why not a service station. Now I have to drive to the impound lot.....about an hour away and pay 150 bucks to get it out of the impound lot. Then I am meeting AMA to have it towed to a service station.....for Pete Sakes I could have had AMA tow it last night straight to the service station at no cost to me. I am not the bad guy here. The police told my son that there is a lot of this going on. They spot cars easy to break into.....break into them, hot wire them and drive them off and go through them and take all the valuables out of them and then abandon them. They left his I.D. in the car and took the I-pod and DSL and there was some other electronic.
I'm off for the day......good day to you all. |

Bronwyn, I can't wait to hear about the car. I do believe in karma (for lack of a better word) and I would rather be a person who was stole from than the person doing the stealing. That is probably a small comfort to you right now. When they stole our truck, they busted the ignition to hot wire it as well. They ended up being chased by the police and jumped out of it running. They got away into a wooded area and the truck hit a house. My daughter was using the truck at the time so they trashed her things...just for meanness. They tore her school books, broke her cd's. The police did dust it for finger prints so if they are ever in custody they will have to answer for it.
I have gained 5 pounds! I'm with you right now Debbie. I had two periods where NFNS just wasn't an option. But I have no doubt I'll lose it. Company coming today, I'm trying to vac and feather dust. I promise I'll check in later.

It's that time again, menu planning. I hope I can get inspired by tomorrow. Sometimes thinking of things to serve for dinner feels like a chore.
The laundry is under control, as is the rest of the house. It feels good. I didn't sleep well last night. I really wanted a good nights sleep (don't we all). I think the fan was set too high and it was blowing my hair around.
My visit to MI was wonderful. At the first sisters house I couldn't eat NFNS. She thinks my diet is "extreme." Those are her words. To each his own I guess. Next stop, the gluten intolerant sisters house. The food there was amazing and our visit was great. I was able to see several family members while staying there. Then off with two of my older sisters to IN. We had a blast. I, and one of the sisters, screwed up the navigating and we arrived an hour late, but all laughing hysterically. We met my Aunt for dinner. Her son, my cousin Dave, and his wife joined us. Dave and I are the same age and we have a lot of fun memories growing up. Dave's wife is the sweetest thing. She listened to all my NFNS talk and can't wait to get started. She already bought the book. I told Dave awhile back about NFNS.
We decided to have a cocktail at the lounge. Well, one thing lead to another and Dave kept buying rounds. I was drinking white russians and I must have had 5 or 6. Good grief...I was hammered. One minute I was fine, the next I couldn't focus. Of course hours had gone by and we were having the best time. We laughed and laughed and laughed. The next thing I knew it was 2 am and I was walking around my aunts front yard because I couldn't lay my head down. I walked for over an hour. At some point I had pulled off my capris. It was so hot out. My aunt lives in the most rural spot on earth and there is not a neighbor in eye shot. I called my husband at 3:30 an he was a sweetie and talked to me for awhile. He suggested I eat some bread, which I did. Next thing I knew I was waking up on the couch. I think I got about 4 hours sleep and I had to get ready for the reunion. The bread did the trick...I was ok. And I wore my red sun dress to the reunion.
My husband arrived at the reunion as everyone was leaving. Road work slowed him way down. But he was able to visit with the ones we are closest to. Then we drove to Louisville for an Italian dinner on the river. It was so beautiful. We ate on the second floor of the restaurant over looking the water and the meal was fantastic. And I was still in my red dress. We stayed the night in Louisville and had a nice drive home the next day. For some reason we held hands for most of the drive. Well let me tell you guys, I have been one happy chick for a couple of days now. Except for the additional 5 pounds. That kind of stinks.
Oh, and we now have a new john deere lawn mower. I hope this one lasts! |
