Hilda here is the recipe that K10 mentioned:
*
* 1/4 cup good quality popcorn * 2 teaspoons olive oil * 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or popcorn salt * Sprinkle jalapeno seasoning mix * Paper lunch bag * Stapler
Directions
Toss the popcorn with the olive oil, salt, and jalapeno seasoning mix in the paper bag. Fold the top of the bag over and staple the bag twice to close. Place the bag in the microwave and microwave on high for 2 minutes to 3 minutes, or until there are about 5 seconds between pops.
NOTE: Popcorn salt is a super-fine salt that is designed especially for sticking to food such as popcorn. It has the taste of regular table salt, but its granules are much finer.

We had something new for dinner tonight...mandarin chicken. I got the recipe off sparks people. I think it was really good. My son is the one that requested it and I don't have his opinion yet. Anyway, it made a good bit, always a plus. I served it with rice, peas and cottage cheese. Really yummy. The down side is...it has 1 TBLSP honey and 1 c mandarin oranges. There is sugar in the mandarin oranges. Nothing to do about it. It made so much I'm thinking the sugar is minimal. For once in awhile it should be ok.
I'm going to have to try the popcorn. |

I just read something that struck a chord...."Any weight loss program works as long as you stick to it 100% and stay with it for life"......that is the truth isn't it. It isn't like you can ever go back to the way you ate before.....because they way you ate before was the reason you had weight to lose to begin with. I think that my friends who don't deal with weight issues have just assumed for life "controlled eating". You see them eating at a party or a restaurant but over all they eat very controlled......I think that is the difference. These may just seem like "duh comments".....but every once in a while I have a duh moment
Connie you found the program that works for you because you can do it for life. You found in a short period of time of not doing it, that you started back up the scales albeit only 5 lbs. Then you took the "bull by the horns" and reigned it all in again. Remember we just had the big Stampede. By the way the Calgary Stampede has huge international recognition......people come from all over the world come to the Calgary Stampede. |

Just caught up on your postings since mid June. Jeez-you guys write a lot!! I heard a doctor on public broadcasting tv say that all we need to sustain life is about 100 calories per hour. So now if I have 400 calories I wait 4 hours before I eat again. You can adjust it however you want.
Thanks for the information about osteoporosis Bronwyn. I like yogurt, and won't try to consume a lot of milk. What do you think about calcium supplements (with magnesium)?
Debbie M. how do you like the steel cut oats? I am also counting fiber today, hoping to reach at least 20 grams (don't know if grams is the right measure). I think you are suppose to get about 25 whatevers of fiber.
My weight is okay. 14's are a little large, but 12's would be to tight. |

ha, ha Kathy even just reading only my ramblings since mid June could keep you busy reading way too long and feeling like a you needed a snooze Where have you been??? Oh I know you have a life Hey that is really interesting about the calories per hour. That would likely be for weight maintenance as that would be 2400 calories. I think that if ouor metabolism are working well and we exercise that we can consume a fair number of calories without weight gain. I honestly think I should go 4 hours in between eating because I am one who feels a desire to be constantly snacking. I have done some reading around that that makes a lot of sense to me and helps me to understand this drive. Now if I can just put this knowledge to work to my benefit is the question Hey nice to hear from you again......goo luck on getting into a loose 12, great goal. |

Hello all...especially you Kathy! Babysat today without the mom here too. It went well, I've forgotten how hard it is to try and get ANYTHING done with a baby/toddler around. I'll go over and spend the night tonight. But first...dinner. I made some potato salad and prepared a recipe called "sticky chicken" from sparks. I was supposed to cover the chicken in spices and let it sit overnight. Forgot about that part until it was time to cook. So, just covered it and through it in the oven. I think it will be good, although with leaving it overnight it would probably be better. Then it is supposed to cook at 250 for 4-5 hours. Basting after the first hour is called for, but so far there isn't enough juice to do a good job of that. Anyway, on sparks you can click on "# of ratings" and the ones most highly recommended/often tried come up. 400 people said this was a good recipe, so let's hope we think so too.
It was gorgeous here this morning. Almost cool when the breeze hit. Love it. I think we have several days of great temps ahead. Makes for good hair days and I need all of those that I can get. I wore a skirt for the second time. My legs still have spider veins, but they are fading and are smaller.
Daughter is off to see Harry Potter, son's asleep, husbands gone. Nice and quiet at last. |

I stopped cooking it after 4 hours, it didn't have time to get "sticky." Very flavorful. I cut way down on the cayenne and still it was a little spicier than I like. But the flavor was great and it was tender. Easy dinner tonight. Steak and baked potatoes. I bought some fresh asparagus too.

Hello everyone,
I just saw the site today, and have a lot going on so I probably won't post much after this. Just want to tell all of you my experience/knowledge. I am dealing with a friend who is diabetic, etc. and it is rough.
From what I have studied, the reason we have problems is the lack of "good fats", protein, and nutrients in our diet. From the days of yesteryear we had good nutrition in our soil, producing quality foods. We ate what the good Lord gave us, from the ground, whether animal or vegetable/fruit, complete and unchanged by meddling hands.
When the local farmer became part of "agribusiness" and government and industry interference occurred (subsidies, etc.), the dynamics of food production changed. Mass-produced food for profit took priority. Now we have food with no nutrients, water without purity, and chemicals contaminating nearly every part of the food processing procedure. Our bodies demand fat (certain fats) for cellular processes. Protein is needed to build muscle for all bodily functions, not just appearance. When these are deficient, your cells dry up and cannot process the life force properly. Damage occurs, and the body compensates by turning on cravings. What we think might stop the craving just turns it off or masks it temporarily and we are still stuck with the same problem, a lack of proper electrical/chemical balance in our system.
In addition, chemical additives in food cause addiitonal damage to the cells, altering normal body processes.
So, I have given up, to the best of my ability, artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, additives, sweeteners, excess sodium, and anything that doesn't belong in the food itself. Also sugars and flours, and some dairy products. I avoid fried food most of the time. Hardly ever open a can.
Read the labels, ladies (and gents)! If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it. Some manufacturers are hiding under the generic "artificial flavors" on the ingredient list. So, we ask, what kind of flavors? Monosodium Glutamate, a neurotoxin? ///SHOCK ALERT AHEAD: Aspartame, which turns into formaldahyde in your body? (You are pickled with formaldahyde when you die, ewww!) Who needs food coloring? -- your stomach doesn't have eyes, and if the food is that bland, it is missing its vital nutrients anyway.
Just by avoiding these items, I have lost weight (I am a small-framed person, and didn't have a lot to lose, but my clothes were getting way too tight) and I feel a lot better, more energy, and less emotional reactions to stress.
I have added more lean meats, eggs, salmon, and powdered whey protein, fats/oils such as flax oil, olive oil, and coconut oil, and more veggies and fruits. For snacks I add nutrition or fruit bars of various brands. I buy organic if possible, some of the prices are coming down as more people demand it.
I take a great multivitamin pack which includes vitamin E and flax oil capsules. The usual one-a-days don't have the quantity or quality of nutrients. The daily requirement list is 40 years old, I think, and was written when food was nutritious. Now we must go by the milligrams needed for optimal health, not percentage of an ancient government daily value. For those who are "on the edge" and are having digestive problems, intravenous vitamins are very helpful, as they are delivered right into the bloodstream for immediate absorption by the cells.
Also, if you are on prescription drugs of ANY kind, they probably leech or interfere with nutrient absorption in your body, causing "Drug Induced Nutritional Deficiency", a newly recognized condition.
Here's a random list of references I've been looking at, or just google any of the phrases I've mentioned:
Dr. Julian Whitaker; Dr. Peter Osborne; Dr. Mary Alavi; Dr. Diana Schwarzbein;
Dr. Duane Graveline; Harvard Medical School Journal, FOCUS, January 11, 2008 (photos of muscles before/after statin drugs); American Association for Health Freedom; American College for Advancement in Medicine; Shaun Kelley (Foods); Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation.
Well, there are many more, but this gives you a good start. I apologize for the length of the post, but this subject touches us all deeply.
Don't be afraid to stand up for what you know is right. You must demand accountability from your grocers and the people who handle the food you put into your mouth.
Best wishes,
S.

We are having left over chicken from yesterday's grill, broccoli and salad. Our chicken turned out so good. We put it on the middle shelf of the grill on low heat for at least an hour, maybe more. Then we had to leave the house. So I then put the chicken in a pan wrapped in foil and put it in the oven on low for two hours. When we got to it it was moist and falling off the bone. We will definitely do that again. The only thing on it was a little salt right before I ate it. The kids of course had bbq sauce. Sometimes simplicity is best.

Morning all. I was going to babysit today, bit I canceled. I have to get caught up around here, back to the ironing board.
We are having an issue with daughter. A friend asked her to go to FL for a long weekend. Not a problem. She had less than a weeks notice. I told her to clear it with her dad. All she needed was money for her own fast foods, etc. Now the plan has changed. Friends mom wants to charge her for gas and she can't go for under $200. That's actually not a bad price, but she has no money. She hasn't worked at all this summer and I do not want to pay $200 for her to have a long weekend in Fl. She had a lead on a babysitting job, but she didn't take the initiative to go after it. I'm torn. The 15th pay period is always the tightest for us. This trip would make our lives difficult. We told her "no" last night and she is just not accepting that. She spent the night with her friend so she could take her to the docs this morning. But when she gets home she will want to argue this into the ground. I'm not looking forward to it.
I have no idea what to cook for dinner! Later gang. |

We only spent 2 to 3 hours at the beach yesterday. The waves were really calm. It was a peaceful time. Even so my day and thoughts were full of the strife we had at home.
Bronwyn, That article is interesting. I believe I saw you in it. I also saw a bit of myself. They say the apple dosn't fall far from the tree. I definitely believe that food can be like a drug. We use drugs and alcohol to self medicate and food can be the same. Chocolate in your case. I'd never heard of that connection before but I agree it makes a lot of sence.
183.5 today. I finally got back down today. Those periods sure do put a stop to progress. I'm within 9 pounds of my husband now!!! I need to exercise to speed the loss.
Have you noticed the connection between sugar, flour and gas? Last weekend I went to a graduation party and had a brownie and part of a piece of cake (naughty me) I was full of gas that evening. I've noticed that I don't have any gas on NFNS. Has anyone else noticed this? |

I straightened up my house a little. If that is at all possible while moving. It at least doesn't look so scuzzy. We had to request another crate. The crate company suggested 4-5 and we got 4, so now we have to pay an extra hundred dollars to have it dropped off separately. :(

Hi Debbie....thanks for reading the article. I thought it was an interesting connection, one I had never thought of before but I actually have since read several articles that agreed with it since. I don't actually know where to go with it from here. I was really doing the research to help determine some things to consider for my son when I ran into that article. It helped me to understand my obsession with sugar and chocolate and the fact that I should eliminate them totally from my life.
Great about your weight Debbie. I can't imagine why I am not dropping some lbs. I feel I should be but again I am not exercising. Exercising is also essential for my osteoporosis......also not eating chocolate or sugar is essential for my osteo.
Debbie there are a number of theories about digestion and osteo. For me I find the when I eat NFNS I don't have heartburn....especially sugary things give me heart burn.
Talk about strife at home.....I just found out that this 25 year old girl is making a move on my youngest....like pursuing him. His girlfriend (has been his girlfriend for over 3 years now) is in the hospital dealing with anorexia. Their relationship is a little on the rocks, she is a very self absorbed girl and she has become even more so since being in the hospital. It is a long story and I won't bore you with the details but I am okay with that relationship ending. I am not okay with him hooking up with a 25 year old though.......he isn't mature enough for that. What the heck is that girl thinking. |

She has been trying to hang out with my daughter alot. Coming here to she her. My DD kept saying Mum she isn't coming to see me you just don't get it. I didn't believe her.....it seemed to ridiculous that she was coming to see DS. I went to bed last night and found out she was here half of the night.....chatting with DS (my DD had gone to bed) and then he gave her a ride home. Who do you think would get hurt in a relationship like that.....the boy who turned 20....3 days ago I am thinking!

Debbie I didn't finish with my thought about heartburn.....sugar must mess with my digestive processes and cause my body to be too acidic. That may be what you experience as well. In fact sugar is very acidic. The osteo diet I want to do is NFNS.....especially flours that are acidic such as wheat, it is also an akaline/acid balance diet, and it is gluten free. The idea is that when you eat acidic food (and that isn't necessarily the food you would think.....I will talk about that more later.....but dairy, meat, sugar are acidic foods. So when you eat acidic foods the body robs calcium from your bones to neutralize the acid.....and make them more alkaline. This makes so much sense to me......even though my explanation is so mickey mouse and non scientific. I have had lots of sugar especially chocolate binges in my life.....so I am thinking my body has had to consistently rob calcium from my bones to create the acid/akaline balance. |

A sample akaline meal day......just really NFNS but there is the balance that I sometimes don't do:
Breakfast:
Veggie scramble: 1–2 eggs per person, scrambled with green onions, tomatoes, chopped bok choy or other leafy green, and bell peppers. Cup of ginger tea.
Snack:
1 pear Handful (1 oz.) toasted pumpkin seeds.
Lunch:
Lentil soup served with 2 cups of steamed vegetables (broccoli, kale, carrots, onions). Drizzle olive oil salad dressing on lightly steamed vegetables.
or
4 oz. cold or hot salmon (or chicken, tuna, or tofu), served over 2–3 cups mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, broccoli, or other fresh vegetables. Lemon-dill vinaigrette.
Snack:
Hard-boiled egg, sliced and sprinkled with sea salt and chopped flat-leaf parsley. Red bell pepper strips, celery or carrot sticks. A handful of almonds is also a snack option.
Dinner:
4 oz. serving of fish, chicken, turkey or other meat served with a baked yam or sweet potato and a mixed garden salad.
or
Pasta (made from buckwheat, rice, amaranth, or quinoa rather than wheat) topped with bitter greens — such as broccoli rabe or arugula—plus chopped zucchini, pine nuts or slivered almonds, garlic, lemon juice and zest, salt, and pepper. Side dish of steamed zucchini with dash of garlic and olive oil. Add a grating of pecorino Romano or fresh Parmesan, if desired.
Seasonal fruits: In summer, try nectarines and cherries, or grapes and melon; in winter, try roasted pears or baked apples.

I am so glad to have found frozen blueberries. I think I'll have them everyday for the rest of my life. I heard 1 cup of frozen blueberries have 3 times more antioxidents than you need for the whole day. Thats quite a whollop. I put them in Oikos greek yogurt with slivered olmonds and or walnuts. yum.
I have developed food issues to the tune of not being able to grocery shop. I look at the ingredients of everything and I can't believe what we have been eating. I can't buy anything. Debbie do you find your family resisting changes. I have over the years done so many different things with respect to healthy eating. Now many of those things seem to not be right. I have always ground my own wheat and made everything pancakes, waffles, muffins, bread and whatever has flour in it....I ground fresh whole wheat flour for. My family did very well with that but then I continually bumped this or that up and I found they have become resistive to change. Now I am being told wheat isn't good for you and I am trying to get that out of our diets more. It is all so confusing and my family doesn't like it or really support these changes. My husband is probably the worst. They want things in the house that I don't want to buy. My husband picked up an onion dip last night that has MSG in it....he would never look at a label. I want to throw it out. I am constantly reading labels and finding that nothing is good. The only good food is on the perimeter of the store but now I find I shouldn't be eating dairy.........geesh! I know what you mean it is hard to even shop.
So my DD has been texting this girl (the 25 year old) and asking the heck is going on. My DD is 22 and this girl has been acting like she wanted to be friends with my DD when it looks more like an excuse to do things with my DS. Drama........sheesh!!! |

sorry I am needing someone to chat with today. My cousin sent me this recipe a while ago that she said was so fantastic....pulled pork salad. I hardly paid any attention to it after I saw it had 1 1/2 cups sugar in it........this is a main dish not even dessert....how stupid is that. She just asked me if I had made it yet and I said ...... really I can't make something with that much sugar in it. She said it is her friends recipe and that the friend weighs 110 lbs......how fair is that. The truth is my family would probably love it......sugar makes things taste good and changing that attitude is hard to do. I can do it but I don't know how to help my family make that change. |

Bronwyn, I am so sorry to read about the older girl around your son. 5 years is a big difference at that age, well at least enough of a difference to feel "forbidden," possibly part of the appeal. So she might not be as mature as you thought, or, she's looking for a brief hook up only. What guy could resist such a temptation! I'm worried any words you say to him against it would be taken as advice from "an out of touch old fashioned behind the times" mom. And maybe he really needs a break from his regular girlfriend and is going to use this as a first step. Hopefully, your daughters involvement is making her reconsider her persuit of him. It seems to me you've always handled issues with him very cooly (smart btw) and that cool head will serve you well with this. Good luck and try not to worry too much. They are young and dumb and this will probably blow over quickly.
Ok, now for old and dumb. My husband called me today and his debit card was rejected. Man oh man am I in trouble!!!! Yet again I've made a mistake in the checkbook and we are now broke until payday. I haven't shared that part with my husband yet. He is going to be very upset. So I'm "steeling" myself for the conversation. I'll tell him tomorrow. You all say a prayer for me tonight, ok? I am having HUGE guilt feelings right now. I really need to work on a new budget. I just have to find time to do it. Maybe this weekend I can get it done. I really don't have any defense...I have been sloppy and ignorant to our finances as of late. Actually, I haven't even seen my debit card(s) in weeks...daughter has them. But I can't blame this on her. It's all me. Crap!
Debbie, I can relate to your aversion to the foods considered normal. But you have to keep a foot in the door...at the grocery store that is. You are "all knowing, all powerful" over food, smarter than the average bear. Just walk on by and head for the good stuff. When I shop now (which I wont be doing for a week because I'm broke...sorry!) I look at the sugary/floury stuff and it seems so fake and artificial and toxic and poisonous. And that makes the good foods look even better. Really. Dang, even this peppy speech isn't improving my mood. I swear, I'll still be cringing in my sleep!
Time to escape into a book for awhile. |

Connie sorry about the stress with the debit card and the possible tension it is going to create between you and your husband. Is there any chance your daughter has been spending on your debit card.....you said she has it. This is a time that you are thankful for any food storage that you have. Is your husband away or will you have to deal with this issue still tonight.
That is what my daughter-in-law said as well Connie.....not to make it seem like forbidden fruit. My husband felt the girl needed to be told how immature our son is.....he isn't a normal 20 year old. I have already said he has not worked any plans for his future at all and isn't that motivated to do so. I am also thinking of integrity in a relationship.....I would be happy for him to break up with his girlfriend but I am not okay with him two timing her.
Ate too much dinner.....shoot!!! |

Husband is in town. He will fuss for awhile, then he will deal with it. It could be worse I guess. It's just until payday. I'll feel better after I've told him, but I'm going to put off telling him as long as I can. Now how mature is that?
Yea, the whole two timing thing is not good. That should be easier to discuss with him. Maybe your daughter will be able to run her off. Most girls don't hang around where they are not wanted. Does she have any idea what your family thinks about the situation? |

Busy, busy day. Bronwyn, I've been told dentists are the new 'doctors." In regards to income that is. Their overhead isn't as high as a docs and they make aplenty.
Today I have ate very well. A nice dinner with some fresh veggies. I need to menu and then grocery shop. Daughter is gone with friend to FL. Amazingly, she was able to go for the original price.
Happy Birthday Debbie's baby! Today my friend told me she wants me to bake 2 cakes for a 1rst birthday party on Sat. Oh geez! I'm not a baker...no one else can do it. Bronwyn...help! Come bake a couple of cakes. Mine never turn out "pretty." Oh well. Then there's the temptation factor to handle. After that we have a party to go to for a 30 year old. I'm tired already.
Time is flying. Anyone else feel that? |

Well, a couple of weeks ago she was talking about having a get together for baby's birthday. Keep in mind it weighs heavy on my heart that she has no family. Her mom is here temporarily, but her dad raised her. She has been gone for 20 years so she really has very few friends from the old days. The people coming to the party are her dad's good friends. Anyway, I mentioned how some store bought cakes look so beautiful, but taste like cardboard. I said baby should have a home made cake. She asked me to do it. There will be 15 people there so I thought 2 cakes, 2 tiers each, regular 8 inch diameter. Or 1 cake like that (strawberry) and a sheet cake. It's not like I can't do it...I just can't do it with style. |

Night gang. I guess we all have our problems...I shouldn't complain. I just wish I had that bakery "panache" where I could whip up something beautiful. I remember complaining to the lady I worked for about baking a cake years ago. She said "why don't you just use a box cake mix?" I said "I do!" Enough said. |

Seriously Connie......increase the ingredients by 8 or so and bake as regular. You could use xyitol for the sweetener. You could top with whip cream sweetened with xyitol in fact you could make it chocolate mousse frosting and put full berries all over the top. Assemble one at a time as needed and just before presenting to your quests.......on a gorgeous plate. The cake won't be high as it is a very rich dense cake but it will look like a chocolate torte and you can eat it. Woohoo....I am a genius, eh!!!! Or cook as cupcakes and top with the chocolate mousse and one strawberry and stack on a 3 tier cake plate....woohoo....I am more of a genius. |

Maybe if I had more time I would fool around with your idea's, but I'm going to be lucky to get the easy one's done.

There were cake, 2 kinds of icecreams, and several kinds of candies and candy bars in the pinata today. I stuck with the things I could have. Hot dog no bun, blueberries, cherries, cheese ball and trisuits, potato chips, carrot coins and black olives.
The recipe for the cheese ball was so good and easy. Combine: 3 pks cream cheese 1 pk Dry Hidden Valley Ranch Mix 12 oz sharp cheddar cheese. (Used food processor as I was warned about burning out a hand mixer) Roll in chopped nuts. Serve with crackers~YUM!
I wasn't even tempted by the sweets. I new they were forbidden foods that are crap, junk, no good for me, and make me fat and lazy.
Bronwyn, Your cake sounds good. And you will be in the 70's pounds wise BEFORE age wise. You can do it!
I really need to get some more exercise. I'm sure it will help boost my weight loss. Its at a creep right now.
After the party I downloaded the pictures and was shocked at how fat I still am. They were not flattering photos AT ALL. I don't know if it was the top I was wearing or what? Maybe it is the false "sence of skinny" wearing off that I had in the beginning of weight loss. I sure am back to reality and back to realizing I still have a long way to go to be where I want to be. I am greatful I am not resting on my laurals. I think doing that has often gotten me back into old habits that lead to weight gain. I am NOT going there again. I do not want to go back to that painful double life of wishing all the time but never acting on my wishes. I got that from Connie.
If I've learned anything, it's that: If you want things to be different you need to do different things. We can't do the same things and expect different things to happen. I got that from Dr. Phill and he is so right.
I'm going to finish my cup of sleepy-time tea and go to bed. Good night all and sleep peacefully.

When we were young my sister was chunky and I was very thin. Now she is very thin and I am way more than chunky. I know she doesn't mean to be immature but there were resentments when we were kids....she hated that she was the chunky one. She loves to take pictures and some how she always manages to get my behind in them and then put them in photo albums to give to others in the family.

I have been cutting up organic lemons into a litre canning jar and then filling it with water.........3 times today. I had for a snack and dessert....a bowl with broken up rice cakes (2), fresh blueberries and topped it with almond milk (home made very thick and yummy....sweetened with dates). Blueberries were so cheep at Meijer. I should go back and get more and put them in the freezer. Good for you Bronwyn, the scales will be moving any minute now. You lost 10 pounds before. Go back and read your posts from the beginning and see what you were doing then. I like your lemon water idea. I saw a V8 commercial today and wondered why I hadn't bought any lately. My sister and I were always nice and thin growing up. We were both happy with our bodies. How nice would that be now? She was tall with dark straight hair and brown eyes. I was med height with blond curly hair and blue eyes. Polar opposites. I got heavy years ago. She only got heavy in the last couple years but we both want to be thin again. She is trying although I'm not sure what her plan is. She had icecream and cake tonight. I wanted to scream the evils of sugar and flour but it seems to fall on deaf ears. |

Good morning all. It is so amazing to me to stand on the scales each morning an see nothing. I am trying to forget about it because I feel pretty good and it seems that I should be down a few lbs. I feel like I am but the scales don't say so....I don't know. I am eating this way for more than just weight however, losing weight is suppose to be happening as well. I am putting by body back into a more akaline condition. I should go and get some ph strips and see if my body is even too acidic to begin with. It is just a theory I have been reading about that the Standard American Diet (SAD) causes our bodies too be too acidic and that is why in NOrth American we have the highest rate of osteoporosis. Your bones are like these power houses that store things.....especially calcium. Because (as the theory goes) our bodies are too acidic then the body robs calcium from the bones create a better alkaline condition for the body. Now my explanation leaves much to be desired but it did make some sense to me. Of course other people who have followed this program have also had amazing weight loss stories to go with it,,,,,,,,so sick of the amazing weight loss stories. Of course I have only been doing this since Monday but before that I was doing quite well NFNS wise. I need to not give up but stick with it and let something happen even if it is far more slowly than the other amazing stories;-(

You know what Bronwyn, there was an article on sparkspeople the other day titled "what if I can't lose weight?" The lady in the article had health problems and medications that made her gain weight. It was so frustrating to read...I really felt for her. But then the comments following the article were heart wrenching also. When ever I read your frustration I always think about the programs you were on before and I think your metabolism is extremely slow because of them. It's the only thing that makes sense. Today "Ruby" was on Oprah. There were lots of clips of her getting exercise. I always remember a doc I know once said if he had a lot of weight to lose he would do it several times a day instead of just once. As long as they all added up to 45 min or so, that would be the best way to jump your metabolism. Add that to the NFNS and you would have to see some results. Don't give up.
I made the sheet cake for tomorrow. Smells so good. I did lick the pan. But otherwise, I've ate good today. Asparagus for lunch with some apple, fresh mozzarella and proscuitto. Probably cereal for dinner. Son is making cheeseburger chowder. It has flour in it so I'll pass. Maybe cereal for dinner...with banana. |

Morning. Hey K10, how is the "move" going? I know your busy...check in when you can. Oh Bronwyn, so sorry about the sleeping, or lack of it. There was an article on sparks today about controversial "shots" some people say will help with weight loss. That may have been what you were getting. The conclusion in the article was that there is no proof they work. Other people in a study that cut their calories by a third lost the same much as those who received the shots and cut their calories by a third also.
Hilda, we had some brown recluses here as well. A woman I know said everyone has some, they just don't know it! A friend of mine had a professional company come in. Apparently they are impossible to kill. They put white powder all over her house, in her cabinets, etc. What a mess! Luckily they like dark undisturbed places. My husband "bombed" the attic and upstairs. I put the sticky strips under all the furniture and we haven't seen one since. We caught several on the sticky strips. I also sprayed around the baseboards of the house with Ortho Home Defense Max. I haven't seen any kind of spider since then.
Hi Debbie! Your all NFNS all the time and it will pay off. So what if your recent pictures don't show you skinny? It's coming! Be patient.

Debbie I know that not sleeping doesn't help with the weight. I try not to sleep in in the morning but sometimes I just can't help it. Even when I do sleep in though it isn't a sound and good sleep.......i feel mostly awake just not alert. Tonight I am going to try an herb sleep aid. I haven't had much luck with it previously but I am going to try it anyways.
This week I ate lots of greens, no potatoes, rice once, no bread at all just some rice cakes, no sugar and no flour, the only fruit I ate was blueberries except one day I had a green smoothie with bananas in it. Not eating the fruit is really hard for me because I love fruit. I also bumped up my water this week. All I can say is that something has to give. One thing for sure though is my cravings are very low. My kids went with my daughter-in-law and some of her siblings for s siblings week-end at there cabin in Montana. It is so gorgeous there. They have an incredible cabin on a beautiful lake and with all of the toys. I made some of my kids favourite things to take along.....and as a result had callebaut chocolate in the house to make some of the things. I never so much as smelled the chocolate.....not a sliver entered my mouth. I didn't even need the visual of that poor man drowning in the chocolate.
K10 hope things are going well for you on your move.....such a hard time for you but it will be all over with and you will be dejunked and living in a great place.
Good luck at your party Connie. |
