Morning. I woke up at 5 am to a huge thunderstorm. Aside from little dog getting the shakes, it was awesome.
Debbie, I just wanted to taste the goodies, or maybe I should say the baddies. There wasn't an appeal or craving for them, just a curiosity. Especially the sheet cake, it was the first time I have made it. And it was no big deal, the taste wasn't fantastic or anything. I still think of them as junk. I gave all of the left overs away, and there was a lot left over. One of the guests is a doctor and he had seconds! They took some home too. I ate fewer calories yesterday to try and compensate and I don't think it will have any effect at all. I have no cravings this morning at all. It is so very rare that I come in contact with desserts. For me, the big difference is staying NFNS in my everyday/all the time life. No munching on forbidden foods here and there. Does that make sense?
I'm off to the store for some groceries. I am in the mood for fresh veggies. I'll check in later. |

Thanks Debbie! I can't think of anyone to better put me in my place! I had left over frosting and threw it away. The fresh produce at the store is amazing. Fresh green beans today. But first, some plums. I'm boiling some chicken and making chicken salad to have with our beans. Just healthy eating today.

K10...glad to hear that the move is over. I know the unpacking awaits you but you can do that a bit at a time. One piece of advise (which I myself has never followed), as you unpack and find things that you don't need, want, love or have space for get rid of it immediately. I always intend to do that but then don't follow through.
Debbie you congratulated me on my success in not having even a sliver of chocolate on Friday when I baked. I can't quite explain this but it wasn't any big deal.....it was just chocolate It didn't seem to have any particular power over me. There is some left over chocolate and I put it away.....and it is like out of site out of mind. Now don't get me wrong I am not deluded enough in my head to think I would be okay to have some and leave it at that. I can resist having none....I am good to go on abstinence but I am not confident in my ability to have just SOME!
Connie I get what you are saying......no casual forbidden goodies.....a goodie here and a goodie there,,,,,here a goodie there a goodie everywhere a goodie, goodie (that is the to the tune of Old MacDonald had a farm). i have done that casual goodie thing way too much......it almost sounds like I am talking about something else here but I really am talking about goodies |

The once a day/every other day/three times or more a week indulgences add up to a lot more than a sliver of cake rarely. My chicken salad is done and my beans are done. I should have grabbed a fresh tomato. Oh well. Son is working in another city until Wed and daughter is gone until Thurs. Just us old folks for a couple of days. NICE!
Bronwyn, isn't it amazing how chocolate no longer controls you? I made that leap several years ago, but still really enjoyed it until NFNS. Sugar had me big time. It's so nice and freeing to be able to pass it up, or better yet, not have it enter into our minds at all.

Hi everyone. Things are going well here. A lot of stuff has been unpacked. My kitchen is almost all together. My eating isn't. I will be back on track Monday. That is what hubby has determined as our back to reality date. I am looking forward to it.
My bro-in-law and I are heading back to our other house tomorrow to get some more stuff. He has been such a huge help. He may actually move in with us. We will know after tomorrow probably. My mother-in-law has a doctor's appointment to see what the plan is for her. She had a heart attack in May and they may decide to do heart by-pass, if that is the case he will stay for a while to help out. He lives with them right now, but hasn't been able to get a job where they are. God has His plans and maybe that is why we are in this house.
I will talk to you all later. We don't have internet yet so I have to wait until Hubby gets home from work. Until tomorrow then.

If I were so inclined, I would definitely make my own at home. The iced NS version does sound good for a hot afternoon.

We had about 60 kids show up last night. The kids were between 20 and 25. A really sharp bunch of kids and it was lots of fun. I was so busy yesterday that I didn't eat much but, what I did eat wasn't the right things. We bar-b-qued hamburgers and roasted hot dogs on the fire pit. It was a beautiful evening and some of them had a really fun water fight. I called some areas as free zones so that those such as my self didn't have to get wet if we didn't want to. They all left by 11:30 so that was great. Some times it is just hard to eat NFNS even when you aren't tempted by anything else.

Morning. I canceled going with friend to the doc's. I didn't sleep at all last night, and to make matters worse, I got into the mini vanilla wafers about 2:00, 3:00 and maybe 4:00 this morning. I'm not feeling so great this morning. No sleep and too much sugar. It is a temporary condition, I've been here many times, just not recently. I can't be lax about putting forbidden foods away at night. I should have known better. So I'm resting today. That is, after I run errands.
Book of Ruth. My favorite book of the Bible. The most familiar line is "your people will be my people, and your God, my God." Sound familiar? Ruth married and after her husband and brothers died leaving no sons, her mother in law, Naomi returned to Israel and Ruth went with her. She left her people and started new life. As I recall this was risky because she was a Moabite and unlikely to be accepted in her new home. She began working for Boaz, a wealthy business man, and they married. Their son Obed was the grandfather of David.
Naomi was reluctant to accept Ruth at first. But Ruth persisted. I just see similarities in my friends insistence to forge a bond with me and my family. I keep repeating "the Book of Ruth" because the end result of that chain of events changed the world. I also left my family and started a new life in a new land with my husband and his family. The Book of Ruth is lovely. Read it when you can.
Ok, time to get moving! |

I don't know why it feels so lonely and sad to me. I am so thrilled that my daughter and daughter-in-laws are becoming such good friends. It seems a bit like the passing of the torch I suppose. It's so weird, we are older but in our heads we do not think we are older. Several years ago all of us girls went for an overnight visit and didn't invite our mom. It hurt her feelings which was so unintentional. I think you should make it a point to plan an event for just the girls that would include you. That's what I would do. They just want to be young and surrounded by young for a little time. But I am sure they love spending time with you and would hate it if they couldn't do that too.

I think the best value in a car is keeping it long after its been paid off. When your payments are finished keep making those payments in a "car repair account". Then it won't matter if there isn't a warrenty on it. You will have the cash stashed away for anything that comes up. 94,000 miles isn't that much these days. My vote is keep the car! |

Debbie I don't know what incident you are referring to specifically.....but there are so many disturbing ones. I have had that feeling many times in my life.....especially when my children were young. That is why it is so important to teach our children the things we want they to know....so they can be strong and faithful even in such adversity. I think we also have to look for and focus on all of the wonderful things that you never hear on the news.
I agree with the others on the car issue. We live in the country and put a ridiculous amount of miles on our vehicles in a short time. We drive them into the ground (of course we take care of them but we drive until they are done with or stolen Cars don't retain value so you lose so much when you trade them in. |

This is interesting:
Vitamin D and Obesity
Vitamin D deficiency has been identified as a critical component in reducing your risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis and many major cancers.
It has been known for some time that low levels of vitamin D are associated with obesity, and a recent research study indicates that boosting vitamin D helps lose weight. Lead investigator Dr. Sibley at the University of Minnesota wrote:
"Vitamin D deficiency is associated with obesity, but it is not clear if inadequate vitamin D causes obesity or the other way around. Our results suggest the possibility that the addition of vitamin D to a reduced-calorie diet will lead to better weight loss."
Though there is need for further research, it is clear that vitamin D plays an important role in weight management and your health.
We rely on sunlight on our skin to generate vitamin D as it is virtually unavailable in our food. Unfortunately many of us live in a climate where there is insufficient sunlight and even then we cover ourselves in sunscreen, so a daily vitamin D supplement of 1000 mg is recommended. It would be hard to find a simpler and less expensive boost for your health.
Sleep
The relationship between being obese and sleep deprivation is well-established and is frequently associated with sleep apnea. What is new is the reverse: that lack of sleep promotes obesity.
Researchers have found that lack of sleep increases the production of the hormone ghrelin which encourages appetite. At the same time lack of sleep depresses the production of the hormone leptin which suppresses appetite. A double whammy.
If you suffer from insomnia and/ or sleep apnea, then this is another good reason to check with your doctor on how to get a better night's rest. |

Seeing what my friend went through over her tummy tuck has cured me! It has been 3 weeks and she's just now becoming "comfortable." I think I am too much of a baby to go through it. I don't know, it would be easier for me since I don't have a little one, but anyone who has one will need a lot of help for a couple of weeks and I just don't see it happening for me easily. I'll try diet and exercise first.
Bronwyn, your post makes sense. I was just reading that a study finds MSG to be a factor in weight gain. It's like everything is a factor in weight gain! Maybe we should just eat things that have had no processes done to them at all. I really have been slipping lately. Not a whole lot, but enough so that I notice and wonder about it. It's so easy to eat right when I just concentrate on myself, but when I start to include others and events, all of the sudden I'm all messed up. And when I do that I find I'm eating much larger portions as well. It's a cycle that I am seeing evolve. I think my busier schedule has something to do with it. That will even itself out, I hope. I need to get greedy about my diet again.
I have two trips coming up. I don't want to think about either of them. My bum is dragging. Insufficient sleep the last two nights. Sometimes I wish I lived all alone away from everyone and everything for awhile...just to get myself straight. You know, I used to say that about quitting smoking and I did that so maybe I can get a handle on myself without too much drama.

Hello ladies. Tomorrow I am supposed to get our internet, tv and phone service through a cable company. I am on hubbies laptop. It has been so nice here in the evenings. Cool and lovely. It was cooler today and the air didn't come on until after three. I had it set at 80. I am trying to be really diligent with the a/c. I actually wanted to open up the house before my husband.
Hilda: My folks just bought a new car today. A new VW Jetta diesel. They haven't had a car payment for a while and I think her car had over 200 thousand miles on it. It had been a very good car and just started having electrical problems.
My girls went to a local church on Tuesday night. They visited the youth group. They didn't like it at all. Too many cliques and the girls actually said the kids talked too much while the youth pastor was speaking. We were going to check out another church in our area yesterday, but they didn't have weekday studies this summer, but I talked to the pastor and his wife and my family was able to meet with them last evening. They were really lovely. Only 25 and 23, which can have its benefits. While I was talking to him earlier in the day he had told me how the youth group was leaving for camp on Sunday after church and that I should think about letting my girls come if they wanted and that they would even give us a discount on the amount. This was one of the reasons I wanted to meet them too. Well, we met them and we all really, really liked them. The girls want to go even if they don't like the kids. They will be meeting them on Sunday. They have already gone to camp with our current church and my mom paid for it. God had provided that so they could go here. Most of the kids will be going to their schools. There was actually a new administrator who many years ago had lived in our area and helped put the pews up at our current church. Hubby was part of the demo team who pulled out the pews and we have 2 of them. Small world huh? I think a sign from God.
I will tell you more about what they will be doing, but they are really excited. So I will have some uninterupted time to be working on the house.
Back on track on Monday. We can all do it again. We can, we can, we can.
I'll have to let you know how the internet works tomorrow.
Good night. |

I took the terrifying step of getting back into the work force when my youngest was in grade 3. It was really a hard thing to get the courage together to go out there and do the interviews. I had to do some serious studying to get back into a social work position. I only lasted for 1 year. I had 4 kids at home and the work load was so heavy and stressful. I didn't feel like I had anything left over for my family. I am sorry to some extent that I didn't stick with it and move my way into a less stressful position.....I was front line child protection worker. That was 11 years ago. I actually would love to work again because I would love to have a "get up in the morning", "leave the house", and, "a get more organized kind of a life style". I also like to be with people. I feel quite lonely at home with my kids grown. The summer is busy because I have my daughter and youngest son here but, in the fall I know I will be kind of climbing the walls. I also would like the income. I have no idea what I could do that would actually make any kind of money however. I don't think I would have any luck getting back into social work at this point.....in fact I know I wouldn't. They instituted this new thing where you had to become registered. If I would have done that the year I had gone back to work it would not have been too difficult to do.....now it would be almost impossible. Debbie if you think you want to or need to work you really should start to look.....you are 10 years younger than me and it is so much easier mid 40's than mid 50's to get back into the work force. I am not addicted to bread and I don't find bread to be a huge challenge but, sometimes it seems there aren't any other inexpensive choices. I didn't want to take the time or spend the money to go have something at a restaurant.
We have been have beautiful weather too.....nice and hot for us. Our hot isn't crazy hot like Death Valley Nevada or anything I am reading Cane River. The setting is in the 1800's and starts off with the black slaves on Creole Plantations in Louisiana and goes through the Civil War. It is an interesting book and I am enjoying it. Today there was mention of a relative that moved to Memphis.....wow walking in Memphis in the 1900's
My weight is very, very painfully slowly dropping.....like a 1 lb a month or something that frustratingly slow. I am eating so healthy and feel a little more energetic and I am not having cravings. I am discouraged nonetheless.

Just more calories overall. I don't know how to feel about this 5 or so more pounds that I have gained. I don't want it, but I can seem to muster the energy to be really regimented and get it off. I think what I really need to do is get back to the simplest form of NFNS eating. Tomorrow menu planning and grocery shopping. Always the first step, right? One thing I have been doing a lot lately is preparing food for the little one. Yikes! Back to basics tomorrow.
Don't be so discouraged that you give up on NFNS. Give your body a chance. It will get the idea and kick in. I still haven't started exercising. Not even walking. One of these days! |

Monday is our day back on NFNS, well Hubby says he will be doing Susanne Somers because he wants to drop weight quickly. I tell him, great example for the kids to see. I want to start walking on Monday as well. I think I will walk in the morning and then in the evening when Hubby can come too.
The kids start school 2 weeks from Monday. Oldest only had 2 months off. I think they are looking forward to getting back and to getting the nervousness of starting a new school over with.
We just had some friends leave that came up to see us. It was really nice to see them. They are 3 young men from church and Hubby is kind of a mentor to them. We have only lived here 1 week and they came up. We feel loved.
Trying out the new church tomorrow, I hope things go well.
Have a good night ladies. |

Why will your husband lose weight faster on Suzanne Sommers? I don't think it is much different than NFNS except for the food combining. I do like some of her recipes. I have most or all of her books. The one thing that kind of bugged me with Suzanne Sommers was how high fat so many of her recipes are. I am interested in how he finds it for weight loss. I know a while ago I read something about all of these programs and why they worked.....it said it was all because of a reduction in calories and an increase in exercise. It went on to say that there wasn't anything magical about any of them and that if Suzanne sommers was followed as per her menus that it was really only 1200 calories a day, so it didn't matter whether you food combined or not the success was actually based on reducing calories. All that being said though I do know a few people who did it a number of years ago and lost 40 or 50 lbs. and it seemed like they lost that weight quite quickly.....so there you go.
Connie you will drop that extra weight. I actually think summer is harder time to diet than winter......schedules are more relaxed and things are less organized.
Got ot get ready for church. |

Thanks for the encouragement. Friend was here with baby today. It set my schedule back a bit, but I can catch up tomorrow. I never got a chance to menu plan. Now I feel behind. I'm flying to Oregon at the end of the month to testify in her custody case. The timing is terrible but it must be done. I need some down time...I'm feeling like I'm missing that a lot.
Hope everyone is well. How are you Debbie...and Hilda? |

Bronwyn: I think the food combining may have something to it, but I don't want to worry about when I ate carbs, proteins or fruits. I think NFNS is easier and it works well.

Good Monday morning ladies,
I just went through the posts from the weekend. It seems like I have so much to say to all of you.
We survived camping and had a really nice relaxing time. We didn't have any planned activities. Relaxing was the goal and we did that. Ended up playing a little badminton and took a half mile hike around a pond after visiting the nature center. They let my littlest one take a turtle for a walk around the yard. She was delighted. Of course it rained. We call our camper Rainmaker! It has rained every single time we camped since we have owned it. It even rained the day we brought it home. I'd like to paint a rain cloud over a campfire with the word Rainmaker on the back of the camper. Wouldn't that be fun? Heh What is funny is that most of the weather we have has been beautiful with just an odd shower here or there.
183.5 I'm happy with that although I would have liked to have lost. I don't think I've lost any weight in a month.
So good luck K10 with your re-start. Connie how has your daughter been doing on NFNS?
My two oldest girls are starting conditioning for volley ball and soccor today. So I'm going to take them now. Catch you all later.

Morning. Ok, this summer has been a tough one for me. Daughter bailed on NFNS a couple of weeks ago. Not enough variety at home for her when it came to snacking and she eats out a lot more than I do so that wore her down. She brings forbidden foods in the house and I end up having some of them now and then. Like yesterday. And last night. I swear, I really would rather not have them. I will have to talk to her today about putting them away. She was very excited to show me a cookie with raspberry in it because she knew I would like it. So I had some to make her happy...but now I'm not happy. They have been out of rice cakes at the store for awhile too. I need for her to go back to the dorm so I can get back on track! Seriously, I will get back on track before then. I have a wedding to go to in Sept. and I need to be able to fit into the dress! Menu planning today!!!!
Debbie, glad you made the most of it! This years weather is something else!
Hi Hilda. The tornado struck in the Bartlett/Cordova area. Probably 25 miles away, maybe a bit more. I actually live in Millington, 10 miles north of Memphis.
I've got big plans to get caught up on everything around here today. Love to all. |

K10, I know it must be new and exciting to move and settle into an unfamiliar place. But I was wondering if you are mourning you old house? I think that would happen to me. I would assume it is a natural phase. Keep your eyes focused on Him for he has great plans for you. It dosn't matter where you live, just THAT you live. Your family is all together and you are all healthy. Really, what more could you want? I wish we could have a little cyber house warming party for you! We could do that by offering you a prayer of peace and prosperity. And if I could make a cyber toast it would be: May your house always be too small to hold all of your friends! Blessings to you and your family. |

Hey - am starting this today (with my husband) this blog is WONDERFUL and certainly encouraging to those who are new at this. I appreciate all the tips and food ideas. Honestly, when I thought NFNS - I thought, well, then what do I eat? This will be a whole new lifestyle for us but am excited as much as I am nervous. I have a sister-in-law who has been eating this way for twenty years - she loves it. I hope to become part of this blog - updating our progress etc, if that is okay. I am off to the store (we have Trader Joes in Charlotte) to pick up all your suggestions. Thanks. |

Hi Sherri and welcome.
Ok ladies, I am starting back on NFNS tomorrow I promise. I still had some wonderful apple pie and to be honest I didn't want to throw it out. Tomorrow is the 23rd anniversary of my moms death and I thought that would be a fitting day to start over. I was almost 17 when she died and then had to start my senior year of high school the next month. I survived though.
Debbie: I am glad you had a good time camping even though it was raining. Thank you so much for the good wishes. I may mourn the whole house thing when we are totally out and it is foreclosed on. I may not though.
Connie: Keep us posted on the storms if you can. Stay safe. |

Welcome Sherri, and husband. I too fell in love with this site when I first read it. We all want to know your stats...age...how much too lose...where you live...kids, etc. We are a curious bunch! It will be great getting to know you.
K10, you have a firm and definite start day. You can do this! Are you pretty much settled? Stress can mess you up so be sure and have NGNS "go to" foods on hand. I need to do the same thing.
Debbie, kids are so darn expensive! Did the plan to pack lunches fail? If it's what you have to do, it's what you have to do. Believe me, when lunch time comes around they will be hungry and thankful for whatever is in their bags. And what a great opportunity to help them eat healthily. School food programs always do poorly on nutrition tests. I think it's a smart thing to do. They may complain at first, but they will come around eventually.
Left overs for dinner. In preparation for my colonoscopy on Thursday I can only drink clear liquids on Wednesday. Maybe I can drop one or two of my additional pounds! I need to get busy on the menu planning. Later girls. |

Thanks for the warm welcome...Let me see - I am 39 (really!) and live in Charlotte NC. I have threee kids (10, 8 and 6). I have about 60 lbs to lose. I have been overweight for most of my life in varying stages - know a lot about healthy eating (we do a lot of organic and no hydrogenated oils) - but I love sweets and candy. I am an all or nothing girl - usually healthy and exercising or eating Ben and Jerrys doing nothing. I was hoping this would be more of a life change not a diet. I went out to Trader Joes and our local grocery store to try and load up on foods I can eat. I went all day with nothing - just got in from out of town and not much food without sugar or flour in the fridge. Just had my first Ezekiel bread - not bad! I got a little confused with some of the items you discussed being on the list as they seemed to have some kind of sugar or flour in them. I would love a list of "safe" foods if anyone has one - triscuits were an exciting find - Irish oatmeal, cereals?, ezeliel bread, plain yogurt - any other suggestions (besides the usual - friuts and veggies, lean meat) - I would appreciate it. I am excited and nervous - I hear the first few weeks can be tough. I love there is this support network - I would love to hear where everyone else is in this. |

The rice pasta is great. I have to buy it at the health food store. You can also order it online. Any health food store would probably have it. The Ezek bread is great too. I like the cinnamon raisin with a sprinkling of Splenda/Truvia for something sweet. You can also have the no sugar added jelly. All Fruit or Simply Fruit...I think that's what it's called. Then there are the sugar free candies that you can buy. I have noticed almost all confectioners have started making them. They are calorie packed, so stay away if you can. NFNS works along with watching your calories. The good news is, by eliminating F and S, you also eliminate a lot of calories. And then your cravings disappear and you will reduce your calories even further.

Back to what I was saying. The Ezek products are all good. The English muffins are yummy. You can buy corn tortilla chips and tortillas that are NF. Just start reading EVERYTHING! Rice cakes are good with some cottage cheese. Veggies are good, of course. My advice to you is keep it simple. At least for awhile. But don't let yourself get too hungry. Eat when you are hungry. Just make smart choices. Don't eat too much fruit and make sure your drinking LOTS of water. Lot's of water and some veggies can really fill you up.
Soon Bronwyn will be posting. She has much more info than I do. But we are all happy your taking the step to put yourself first. It can be done and you are the one that can do it. Take a few minutes and get your measurements, you'll be glad you did! |

All this talk has me gung ho anew! I made it to the store and bought some NFNS groceries. Tomorrow night pork medallions with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli and then Wed night grilled chicken with rice and peas for the family. They finally had some rice cakes today. I bought a vine tomato to have with some cottage cheese on them. Lets see, no added sugar juice and some NS broth for Wed. Ok K10 and Sherri, we are all on board now. It is so much easier when the kitchen is stocked and ready to go. When we can wake up to NFNS day after day we start seeing results. I'm going to weigh tomorrow. It's been awhile. I think my lowest was 143 something. I hope I haven't been too bad! I do not want that weight back. Not any of it. I bought some Bermuda shorts on sale. They are a size 8 and I'm afraid to try them on. So tomorrow morning I'll weigh in and then try on the shorts. I hope they fit. I only have one pair that are longer and I really need to be wearing longer shorts. My legs look better than they did, but some of the veins they poked are still there and they are kind of big ones. It will not be 12 weeks until the end of Aug. So I'm still hopeful. We've missed you today Bronwyn. Stay strong Debbie. Talk to you all in the morning. |

No sugar added hot chocolate, no sugar added jello and pudding, and fudgsicles for treats. Guacamole made with lime juice, avocado, tomato or salsa and garlic salt is good with corn chips, raw cauliflower, or on a hamburger or turkey sandwich. Scrambled eggs with salsa, veggie omelettes with turkey, peanut butter on apples, baked sweet potato fries,Blue Diamond whole almonds with no sodium, walnuts, popcorn, pizzas made from Ezekiel tortillas and salsa and veggies and a little cheese,
There is just so much you CAN eat and enjoy. |

Shari: Here are a couple of breakfast ideas, omelettes or scrambles with sauteed veggies and a small amount of cheese, oatmeal with blueberries and walnuts (yum) I also add unsweetened applesauce and cinnamon or raisins and cinnamon. There is bacon without sugar (ladies I actually have it at my Walmart Supercenter) Yay me! I am trying to think of things to cook since I have been off track for a while, so I can use ideas again too. I drink non-fat milk, water and 100% fruit juice. Be careful with the juice though, since it has quite a few calories. I gave up a 3-6 can a day Pepsi habit in January. I don't drink diet. Fruit smoothies with plain yogurt, frozen fruit and a banana.
We finally have a BBQ so I am going to try my hand at that. I loved grilled veggies.
Take care and good luck. We can do it together. I am weighing myself in the morning. I definitely recommend measurements as well.
I don't know how often I will weigh yet.
Good night.

I am not entirely sure its time for me to go back to work. My kids are still too young in my opinion and having a schedule to keep will just make things more stressful at home. My children don't get along well on their own. My Dad rode over on his scooter yesterday and was surprised when I told him I was looking. He said who is going to do your job now? Good point. My job is more like jogging. I have to go long distance (24/7) A paid job is more like a rull out run (8-9 hours)But then you can rest. I rest often but my work is never done. Potatos chips for breakfast? yep that what I had. They were out on the counter and I just started eating them. Oh and my first 6 cherry tomatoes that I harvested from the garden for the first time today. THey were delicious. Mount Washmore awaits. I got behind again. My septic just can't take a marathon laundry day so I may have to go to the laundramat. GRRRRRRR
I'm in a wonderful mood today. NOT! Maybe I should go back to bed. Maybe I'll go for a bike ride. That will perk up my metabolism. I need to go out and change the pool filter and fill up the chorine floaty.

Morning all. I weighed 148.8 this morning. A solid 5 pound gain. I tried on the shorts, one pair fit, although tightly, and the other pair are way too tight. Not bad I guess. The pair that I am keeping will never see the dryer! Losing the 5 pounds will make me much more comfortable in my clothes again. So, smart choices from here on out. I think I will weigh myself once a week - daily makes me CRAZY and obsessive. I try not to go there if I can help it (doesn't always work out though). I am hoping to go for a jog (and I use that term loosely) with my son this afternoon. I skipped exercise yesterday. I am lucky on the job thing - I work from home fulltime - so I get the perfect balance. I would love to weigh 148.8 lbs - that is close to my goal weight. :) |

Welcome Sherri. We have some things in common......already eat quite healthy but still have 60 lbs. to lose. You have the wonderful advantage of being much younger though and it will be easier for you if you follow the program. What kind of work do you do from home?
We have had crazy weather......crazy electrical and wind storms. There is actually an enormous tree lying across my driveway. First it got hit by lightning and then there was a severe windstorm and the tree toppled. My yard and all the area around here for miles are littered with ripped off branches. We have also had really hard and heavy rains. The storms on Saturday resulted in 2 deaths and about 70 serious injuries.
It was so dark, cool and dreary yesterday all day and still today. I didn't eat well yesterday. Today I want to be right back at good eating. Eating well just makes me feel so much better.
Have I asked this before???? I am wondering about getting a rebounder. I need to do weight bearing exercise for my bones. Bike riding isn't weight bearing. Walking is a good weight bearing exericse but, with my bad knee and ankle I can't really get enough walking in to count. Also because I live in the country other than the 1/4 mile on my drive way the rest of my walking is on the road with cars.....which doesn't appeal to me. I couldn't do any big jumping on the rebounder because of my osteoporosis in my spine but I was wondering about walking or light jogging on it in front of the T.V. It is suppose to be amazing for your immune system as well.....maybe not with the light walking I would do. Anyone have any experience or opinions on the rebounder idea......apparently Needak is the best brand. |

this is an advertisement from the site.....so I am not banking on this but I have heard others say so as well........
We believe that Needak Soft-Bounce rebounder is the best mini-trampoline in the worlld.
Rebounding on a Needak Rebounder is a great cardiovascular workout while helping strengthen you bones. It is one of the most efficent ways to exercise from your home especially with the folding rebounder.
Seniors can buy a bar go to along with their rebounder to exercise safely.

Bronwyn: I have a mini-tramp (rebounder) I bought it at Wal-Mart. I like it when I use it. I think I will bring it in from the garage. My hubby wanted me to get rid of it when we moved, I said no, I MAY use it. I actually have room for it.
NFNS so far. 2 eggs scrambled with sauteed onion and some Feta cheese, OJ and a piece of Ezekiel 7 grain bread.
I weighed this morning. 179.9, not as horrible as I thought considering how poorly I have eaten. My lowest weight so far was, 174.5 on June 10th. I really deserved to have gained more than I did. I ate almost a whole apple pie since Saturday. Hubby had one piece. How bad is that?
I heard from Oldest yesterday. She says they are having fun. That makes me feel good. They are going to an amusement park today as part of the camp. They are camping near a beach and spent the day at a pier yesterday, today an amusement park, tomorrow beach, Thursday a water park and they come home Friday. Next week we go to get their school schedules. I am going to have to figure out what time we need to leave to get both kids to school. We live about a few miles from each school and they are in different directions. They no longer have bussing/busing (sp?) due to budget cuts. This state is so messed up. I have always driven my kids to school, but they have always been within 2 miles of home and close to each other.
Sherri: I am 39 too. When is the big day for you? Mine is in October.
I better get off of here and get to the boxes and Mount Washmore too.
Have a great NFNS day ladies. Notice I didn't say that very much when I was being naughty?

Dang it.....I can't get the right exercise figured out. The eliptical trainer hurts my ankle....my ankle has plates and screws in it and, it is the wrong motion for the lack of flexibility in my ankle. I thought that walking on a rebounder would be less stressful on my ankle and knee....lower impact than on the floor or ground. For my knees the recumbant bike is good exercise but not for my bones. Connie there is apparently a big difference in the Needak U.S.A. made rebounder and those made in Korea and China. The Needak is suppose to have much better springs and not be jarring. I wish I knew some one who had one and I would try it out. hmmmm......maybe I should go to a fitness store and give it a try.
I am out of Ezekial bread and had my lunch sandwich on whole grain,,,,,,so I am only NS. However I really should not be eating Ezekail or any other bread with wheat as they are not akaline. I still can't find my new akaline....ph diet book. I seem to need the book in hand to make the right choices......it is all kind of a new theory to me. Bronwyn, maybe it would be a good idea, and cheaper in the long run, to hire a personal trainer for a consultation only. Or someone that specializes in exercise and injury. I would be nervous about making things worse if I were you. There has to be something you can do that will be good for you.
I got hungry and made some rice cake nachos. So good! I'm probably going to skip dinner tonight. Or maybe have some cereal before bed. I have been up close to some vanilla wafers and I resisted. WooHoo! I must admit there was temptation. My sister has a ton of fresh blueberries and she keeps calling and telling me about all the pies she has been making. She's playing around with the crust recipe. She's making them for friends and family. Good thing I'm not there. I am not cheating until I get rid of these 5 pounds. And then maybe not even then. Debbie: Game on. I haven't decided how often I am going to weigh yet. I may do the once a month thing right now.
I was so snacky yesterday, but stayed NFNS except for that potato salad and I didn't eat after nine. That is going to be my goal. No food after nine.
Connie: Keep busy today so you don't have to worry about things. |
