You can eat brown rice, lean meats, low-fat dairy products, fruits and vegetables. But, you have to stop eating foods like bagels, pasta, bread, cereal, white rice, cookies, sweets, and cakes.

Many excellent recipes are included in the book with have no flour and sugar, yet taste delicious.

This book helps you break the addiction and get on track for eating healthier while losing that extra weight.

Hey, Debbie. Lot of storms up here too, I live in southeast Michigan.
Probably not as many as where you are.

I just recently found iHerb.com. They have deeply discounted vitamins,
and that is where I order my krill oil, inositol, etc. I've read reviews
and order "source naturals" brand, but I'm sure they have plenty of other
highly reviewed brands. I think iHerb has reviews on the site. I didn't know
anything about it not being available.

I bet if you took inositol and magnesium in the evening, you'd notice an effect.

Rachel and I finally got to golf yesterday. Golf really is great exercise, if you don't ride the cart. I'll tell you, I walked all 9 holes. She did really great for a beginner. She wanted me to walk the course with her as it was her first time. THe weather was beautiful!
My diet has been so so but I have maintained the little weight I lost this summer. I want that number to grow!

Morning all. I've been busy away from home the last couple of days and my diet has been so so as well. Yesterday I bought a few ore size 12's...I'm afraid to try them on. That will happen in a little bit. Some bill paying this morning, then some shopping, then maybe some down time and I can make out a grocery list with NFNS being in control of it.

Bear, I grew up in Eaton Rapids MI. Most of my family is still in the area. My oldest sister is in Traverse City. We usually visit once a year, sometimes more, but this year I don't think we will make it. I do love MI in the summer...and spring and fall as well.

Debbie, I am so sorry about your friends nephew. And of course you are even more so. I'm not sure why you were unable to do more for her...but there has to be a reason and I hope you friend will try and understand. She is probably doing some lashing out because of her pain, just assure her you are there for her and always will be as much as you can. You golf! My sisters would love you! I, on the other hand, can't even hit the ball. A few of my sisters play on leagues. I am the most unathletic female in the family...really, pathetic at all things sports. Oh well! I take after my mom and Gma.

Today I may be eating out and I am going to be a good girl. You know, most of my problem stems from not having the time to make my menu and grocery list. When I don't do that I end up eating whatever I can which is easy because the family likes many of the no no's. Husband and MIL are in Alaska, daughter is house sitting at MIL's, so maybe I can get back on track for the next two weeks. I do need to find some new recipes though. Great day all.

Debbie M. I didn't know you play golf. I do too - several times a month. I'm not dedicated.
Debbie M.

No no no, I don't play golf at all. I did hit a bucket of balls one time 25 years ago but that it. My 14 year old daughter will be a freshman this year and she joined the golf team. I was getting her started. She wanted me to walk the course with her as she went through 9 holes for the first time. I think I might be falling in love with this game.

Kathy, Several times a month? Wow, I'd love to do that. I'm so fat around the middle I don't even think I could twist around and swing the club. But I might try soon. smile

Connie, My friend is offended that I did not attend her nephew's funeral or viewing. She lives in WI and came in for the services which were here where I live. When I talked to her on the phone before she got here I asked her spoecifically what time I should come that would be best for her. I understood her to say she was going during the family hour ahead of time and didnt want to see the public. She never answered me about what time to meet her. I assumed she was only going during family time. I did not go at all. So she is angry saying she needed me there. I tried to explain the misunderstanding but I guess she just needs to be mad.
Connie
posted 7-Aug-2010 12:11pm

Debbie, here's an idea...send her a card. Tell her again how sorry you are for the misunderstanding. If she is a true friend, she will let you off the hook. If she can't back down, then there is something going on with her that you have no idea about. It is unreasonable and very self centered to refuse a heart felt apology. I am sorry you are going through this. I have offended or irritated my friend and I tell her it was not intentional and she has to get over it because we are going to be friends forever. It takes a couple of days, but she does let it go.

I lost near 20 pounds. The whole family is eating better starting today.

I walked with my friend to the park and we got the information regarding the swimming pool and we are going to sign up for 16 times at $44.00. We will start with swimming laps. Then we may do water aerobics.

I have only gained back 10 pounds, but it seems like 50! I think the whole 10 pounds went to my butt and thighs. I seem to stay at the 10 pound gain no matter what I eat. I have really tried to minimize the amount of F&S, but it has been on my plate consistently for quite a while now. My goal is to eat all NFNS for the entire week. No cheating at all. For breakfast this morning I had my usual 2 cups with half and half. For lunch 1/2 grilled pork chop and some healthier rice cake nachos. I nuked 2 rice cakes with the thinnest, tiniest bit of shredded cheddar and then topped each with some guacamole. YUMMMMMMM! I bought some of the wholly guacamole 100 snack packs. They were so good. Probably left overs for dinner. I did get some fresh green beans cooking. So at least for today, so far so good!

I'm constantly resolving to avoid sugar for good, but I usually end up having

Also, peanut butter, I can't seem to get away from it. The kind with a little sugar.
I think I'd be okay with just cutting out the ice cream and keeping the PB! Maybe that is do-able...

Breakfast:2 eggs with fresh green beans sauteed in grapeseed oil. A glass of nonfat milk.
Lunch:I was running errands and we needed something to eat so I had one of those huge hot dogs from Sam's club with no bun, dipped in mustard and onions. Sugar-free lemonade with a ton of ice.
Dinner: El Pollo Loco chicken with corn tortillas, rice, avocado sauce and salsa, and a glass of milk.

Went on a walk with my bro-in-law and Youngest at the park and BIL checked out the pool. He wants to swim too. Hubby and Oldest stayed home. frown

I have no idea how often I will be weighing. That is always so difficult for me. I will let you know when I do. I went grocery shopping today so I have NFNS food in the house. I didn't buy any orange juice either.

A woman who had thrown a dinner party, at which raw oysters, curried lamb, and steamed mussels were all served, met her physician on the street the following day. “I’m sorry you weren’t able to come to my party last night,” she said. “You are so busy these days, and I think it would have done you some good to have been there.”

I ended up eating again after dinner because I still so hungry. I stayed NFNS, but geez! I hope I don't have many more days like that. When I was at work yesterday I had some casserole someone else made. I later found out it had crackers in it. Could that be what triggered my insatiable appetite? Maybe. Today I am going to be very careful about what and when I eat. I don't plan on leaving the house, so lot's of water drinking will be involved. K10, I wish the weather here permitted walking. Here's the good news...I ate well today. I love green zucchini. Last summer I ate a ton of fresh asparagus, this year it's zucchini. A friend gave me a recipe for okra, something I have never enjoyed, and she swears it's crunchy and not slimy and yummy. I'll be trying that this weekend. Husband and MIL are doing good in Alaska and daughter is fine house sitting. Makes life very peaceful around here. The forecast has cooler temps in the forecast next week. 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup mayonnaise
2 scant tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. minced onion
1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Pinch of salt
1 (6 to 8 oz.) can shrimp (broken pieces), drained
Crackers (for serving)

Mix all ingredients except the shrimp and crackers together. Stir in the shrimp. Serve with crackers.

You know what Bear, breaking the "sweet" habit is a real hard thing to do and also a key in weight loss. It just makes sense...we can eat good all day long and then wipe it all out in a matter of minutes at one setting. For me it was easier to just give up all sweets than to try and find substitutes all the time. If you have the drive and the ability and the calories to spare, you enjoy...I mean your stuff does sound yummy. I had to get a grip on what I was putting in my mouth on a serious level.

I've been busy this weekend. Staying in the house of course. Geez, we need rain so badly.

Ok, this is me speaking out as a middle child...I can't fault Julia Roberts for her religious beliefs. I believe in freedom of religion and Hinduism is a peaceful practice at it's core. I am a Christian...but I believe in the value of our individual souls and God's ability to recognize them. When my father died, my sisters and I had a religious discussion. My father was not active in the church. We wondered what some of his wishes would be when it came to his "final" details. One sister asked "did he really believe?" I said it didn't matter, he now knows all there is to know about God and isn't he lucky. If you were never raised as a Christian, but raised with the basic principles under another name, God will be welcoming you. I believe God is loving above all else.

Interesting take on that Connie, It's just too broad for me.

That's because you were raised with the word "Christianity." Many people are not...they are raised with other words. Your religion has given you very specific data...although you must always remember that the data is an interpretation. I am always stunned when people adopt a faith and then deviate from it's guidelines in certain area's, but then condemn others for their religious beliefs. My neighbors are Baptist and they are not allowed to drink, but they do drink when they are out of sight of other Baptists. Well, ok, that's their cross to bear and they are responsible for their own relationship with God. Maybe they think it's really ok to drink, just in moderation. But the point is, other people in their church would say they are not true Baptist, that God will not recognize them. Someone is always saying "they" are the right one's in the eye's of God. I think it's arrogant...and to the extreme, people have killed to single themselves out. That can't be right. I always try to remember to love my neighbor as myself and judge not, lest I be judged.

My weight was up today a little. I did not want to see that. But I haven't been walking so I'm not really surprised. Hubby is gone, that makes me sad. Even more reason to walk. Helps clear the mind.
Hilda, ever since you mentioned shrimp dip I have been craving that. What would you eat it on? Maybe some toasted Ezekiel squares? Did you find the recipe you were searching for?

I'm not ready to check my weight. I need to get a few days of good eating behind me. Today ironing and general house stuff. And good eating!

I took the girls and did the Mall Crawl today. Talk about exhausting!! They were happy with what they got. A few new clothing items for school. I got 2 new tops from the Ulta clearance rack at Sears. Seems like everything I own has a stain I can't get out.frown

I took a bar of felthsnaptha and lathered it up and rubbed it on the mystery stain. Nothing. I am about tho throw away 3 or 4 shirts. :oP Do any of you have a favorite pre-treater you use in the laundry cycle? I just bought a new to me one called Zout Action Foam at Wal-Mart. Will try that next.
Maybe I should be wearing an apron while cooking and cleaning. smile

If you have a "grease" stain, the stain is just a dark spot, dab it well with liquid dish soap and let it sit over night. You may have to reapply. If it's a colored stain, like spaghetti sauce, get some oxi clean powder and mix some with a little water until you let a thick paste and apply and let it sit over night.

I think they might be some sort of grease stains. They are dark spots on dark fabric. I think I have Dawn.

OK Connie, they are all pre treated with Dawn and washing in very warm water. I hope this works. Will update later.........swish, swish smile

I checked every shirt before I put them into the dryer. It looks like the stains came out!! I hope they don't reappear after they come out of the dryer. Do you think they will? They may be saved. Thanks Connie!!

It worked! Every single stain came out with putting Dawn right on the spots. I didn't even wait over night. I washed right away. Thanks again Connie. I feel great about my clothes again. I think I treated 8 shirts with stains!

Wonderful Debbie! Liquid dish soap is a great degreaser for clothes. Once in awhile my daughter will have accidents during her time of the month. She likes bright colored undies...nothing ruins them like period stains. I get a bowl (large enough to immerse undies) and fill it with water. Add a whole scoop of oxi clean, stir, add undies and let sit for 3 or 4 days. Seriously, it works every time!

I'm off to the obgyn today. The last two nights I've had night sweats, last night it happened twice. I changed nightshirts twice. I AM GOING TO HOLD THAT OFFICE HOSTAGE UNTIL THEY UP MY HORMONES! Seriously, I think she will do it without a problem. Tons to do around here first. Great day all.

Wouldn't you know I wore one of my newly refreshed shirts this morning while frying eggs. And yes, Splatter. When will I remember an aprone? This one goes back to the Dawn station.
I hope you get satisfaction at the Doc's today.

Where would any of you look for a dress to wear to your son's wedding? Most of the dresses I saw had polyester linings. I can't wear that s..it.

I basically shop on line all the time now. My favorites are Coldwater Creek and Lands End. For a wedding I would probably hit a bridal shop or look at the bridal shops on line. It depends on how "formal" the wedding is.

I've got good news and bad news. The good news, I have a new HRT plan. All my complaints, mostly lack of sleep, should be better with the new plan. The bad news, I weigh 160!!!! Oh, I'm so sad. Well, not sad exactly, frustrated because I feel like I can't be effective in weight loss right now. Probably because I am bone tired day after day and only feeling worse. So, we'll see how this new plan works.

Off to read and hopefully get some much needed sleep.

Connie: Hopefully your new HRT will help with you feeling so tired. I felt so tired today. I even took a nap. When I want OJ I go buy a small bottle so I don't have it around the house.

I have been NFNS except for some dark chocolate. I am so conflicted regarding this. It is supposed to be so good for me, but it has sugar. I am going to be responsible regarding it.

I think I will weigh on a monthly basis.
