Rice Diet

A high-carb, low salt, low fat diet that will "detox" your body and shed pounds.

You are allowed to eat whole grains (not just rice), fruits, vegetables, beans, limited fish, and non-fat dairy products. You must also avoid salt. This diet links salt to appetite stimulation, so you must avoid it.

Brown rice is encouraged over white rice.

Fat is nearly eliminated from this diet. Protein is also limited quite a bit. This diet is recommended for people with heart disease.

The Rice Diet is headquarted in Durham, NC at the Rice Diet Program & Heart Disease Reversal Clinic. People will often start the diet at the center, learn new habits, then bring them home to continue.

Mindfulness techniques (meditation and yoga) along with a 12-step style program are used.

The Rice Diet center has been around since 1939. More recently, the Rice Diet book has been made available.

It may be hard to stick to the program of very-low salt, low fat, and low flavor foods. 12-step programs and mindfulness techniques don't work for everyone. Low protein could lead to loss of muscle not fat.

I am eating 15 grams of fat, 215 grams or carbs, and 24 grams of protein. I just wated to make sure that the break down of fats, proteins, and carbs was ok. Merry (

I’m a thin 43 year old woman. Since my 20s, I’ve had an interest in ntoirtiun and learned a lot of things since then. I also began to see fat on my stomach and over the years it never disappeared, in fact I began to see more! I would go to the gym, but nothing would happen. I really learned a lot with the DSP. I adore pasta , bread and cereals and was able to make it through the 14 days without them! I lost 3.1 cm on my waist. I feel better now without wheat, as I am not bloated. I love all the information I’ve read to help me to achieve my goals of burning fat and being in good health. Thank you
