Though Suzanne Somers originally came to fame on the hit TV show, "Three's Company", since then she's focused on weight-loss and exercise techniques that help people stay slim and beautiful like her. Over the decades, she has developed quite a following.
Now that she's in her 50's and struggling with the effects of menopause, she's written a new book that focuses on the unique challenges for women at that age. The book's main point is that hormone therapy is essential. When your hormones are out of whack, your emotional state is unstable and you will not be able to stay on your diet or exercise routine.
The book is focused on baby-boomer women who are in the second part of their lives. At this stage in your life, you need to change your plan to adjust to a more age-specific diet and exercise program.
In particular, she recommends BHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement therapy) as opposed to synthetic hormones. She says the synthetic hormones mimic pregnancy and lead to weight gain and bloating.
Beyond the hormone advise, she recommends a healthy diet of whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and avoiding high-glycemic index foods. Her book provides a variety of recipes, many of which are very appealing. Also, her own lines of Somersize food products are recommended.
